You have not yet seen crime until you come to South Africa! It happens everywhere anytime. What inspired me to write this is the Bank that has just been robbed minutes ago. Just yesterday day they wanted to rob the bank in the same building that I work in, and wanted to use the car of one of the staff in the Bank. They got spotted quickly and ran away with guns hanging loose in their hands. The Bank which has just been robbed is about 20m away from the bank which was robbed two weeks ago, and they got away with R2.5m. a month ago a six months old baby died of stray bullets at the back of her mother. This was due to the wrangle which broke out between robbers and Cash security guards. Two days ago a Soldier pumped a bullet in his head after killing his wife, on the same day a policeman shot a person who came to his brother’s funeral with a service pistol, after a small argument.

To make matters worse Malawians are forming small gangs in the heart of JHB. Most of their victims are fellow Malawians. How does this happen? They hear you speaking Chewa or Yao, and they will come to you and plead with you that they use your cell phone by sending a Pliz call me massage! Before you know it you will be mugged and grabbed by almost ten people (all Malawians) lift you  in the air while the others are searching your pockets!

Then there are Malawian armed robbers, and this gets very complicated they get what they call “layini” at their target place. In the group some are South Africans. They make sure they know all the Policemen who are patrolling the precinct at that day. They rob get the very same policemen to chase them and they part ways somewhere.

The policemen then return to take statements. You wonder where do they share the money? At the Police office basement!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Here police are involved in anything. So can we have doubts if the National Police Commissioner is being suspected of running his own type of Mafia activities? To make matters worse he is being implicated in the death of JHB business Magnet Brett Kebble! And just a day ago he was being questioned for driving a 4x4 stolen vehicle.

Do these kinds of things happen out there in UK or US?

Is the motive behind these robberies poverty alleviation due to the fact that most people leave mother Malawi for the better in foreign countries?

Such robberies can not be justifiable. But if you employ and oppress people, and you get robbed by the very same people then that’s a different story. Maybe Robin Hood robbed for a good cause.

By the grace of God am surviving and still enjoy kuwecheta Chiyao, but you might want to rephrase yours! what you have written is: Kodi iweyo kwathu kuli bwino.

Most of you people on the forum mumazibisa ntundu wanu. dont you feel proud of your heritage?
