Finally Same sex marriages in Africa!
Permalink Closed

The same sex marriages have finally been legalised in South Africa. Rumour has it that the government feared losing foreign investors in the country who mostly are gays. This was despite the nation’s plea that the conduct is un African. They claim that “God love fugs” and that they are entitled to his blessed matrimony. My fear is that this is just a thousand kilometres away from The Warm Heart of Africa. This definitely tells us that next thing will be marriages with animals, since reports say that some animals are sex craze with human beings. So if their feelings are mutual then why not legalise it as they argue in gay situations?

No offence, Just visualize it guys, the Pastor asking " Abre do you take Game as your lawful wife?" ka-ching! and he says i do.

What ever reason behind South Africa's legalisation of gay marriage, I think it is the best news in terms of human rights in Africa for years and must be commended. Even most states in the US (the so-called bastion of human rights) cannot even begin to debate about it let alone legalise it.

The religious right has its moments of rise (usually when there are republicans in the White House) and then it's political base sort of fades out gradually. The US is the only country in the west that has this problem. Majority of politicians in the US know that the church can provide a steady source or support and votes so they gravitate towards it. Although the founding fathers of America were not only sceptics but consciously wrote a constitution that prevented religion from having a part in the state in terms of dictating policy.

Yes, America's founding fathers wished to separate church and state. As much as they wanted freedom of religion, they also wanted freedom from religion.  Its a liberal view. Something I personally don't think deserves as much attention as it has today. So long as its not applied to Malawi, S.A. can resort to whatever it thinks is neccesary to keep foreign investors. If those were its intentions. Then again, I'm a little skeptical of the claim that they're mostly gay. Unless you meant pro-gay. But one must recognise what a country sacrifices ethnically when you legalise such things.

But how do you define ethics? Isn't the very decision not to discriminate based on sexual preference what secular ethics is about?

What on earth would Malawi be sacrificing if it legalises gay marriage?

Majority of societies offence at the idea of gay marriage is of course based on the notion that God is somehow against it. Like if there was actually a god who created the universe in all its scope and size billions of lights years in distance, and the earth only a speck in it, would really care about who I have sex with eh?

It is a pre-medieval notion if you ask me, and out-dated.

When people say they hate homosexuality, I'm tempted to ask why. How on earth does a behaviour of someone who is not exactly causes you personal harm affecting you? And what difference does it make if they want to get married?

kodi....the word for this in my village is mathanyula. Ahhhhh Anthu woyeepa... Just like my grandmother said.

Why does an african nation have to be the one to break the mould. Leave this sort of work for the people of a nation who love to debate, mull and chew such topics and still get nowhere by the end. Namely some place like America or England.

Almost every aspect of our life used to be perfect before the advent of some of these things which we are copying from the west. Look at South Africa it has the highest number of women walking half naked with their protruding bottoms. Many people will tell you that the behaviour is “fine” despite being in denial that the tendency has contributed for being the country with the highest rape cases. Our fellow Malawian women were well known for their respectful dress codes. By then cases of rape were unheard of, but if you look at them now since the introduction of TV you will see that we are heading a different direction, which is “fine” according to some people. Look at these gay folks 90% of them if not more, do smoke or take drugs. And the way they bonk, you know, at “wrong places” makes them to be at risk when it comes to STDs and you say its “fine” look at what impact  freedom of speech has caused. Loss of lives and you say its fine. Let’s reincarnate our morals and values by making our women understand that gender equality has only brought nothing good but mischief into our families. Unfashionable women will have the benefit for being chaste until their blissful marriages thereby avoid all the adversities along the way.

Tell me if am sounding Islamic!

Everything that you write on this forum is always wrong.

There is no evidence that dress code influences rape. Even if it were true, you see,m to be blaming it on women's clothing as opposed to men's behaviour. I don't think rape was invented by the west!

How on earth TV contributes to crime levels in probably in your head only....

There is a high rate of HIV in Malawi irrespective of homosexuality. Where you get the idea that gays take more drugs than the average person is evident of your absolute ignorance.

You are not only an absolute fool to suggest that it is up to women to be chaste (if ever that was possible in ANY society other than the one you're making up in your head).

I don't think you sound Islamic, I think you sound idiotic!

So hang on a minute, you are saying that it "gender whatever whatever" (as you so eloquently put it) is an illegitimate concern? I hope you don't mean that.

So what's wrong with a woman being single or divorced? You say it as if the pinnacle of a woman's existence is to be married. If yo believe that dude you are in the dark ages.

I'LL LIKE TO HEAR WHAT THE WOMES THINK OF THIS!

Gender is a very good concept. What am agaisnt is the way these Malawian lady gender activist are taking it by trying to get even with men period, its like they have a podium and want to use gender to their advantage hell no!!!!!

Abre i dont mean that women have to be married as a prerogative they can lead any life they want, its these "been there tried that" type of ladies who think they know more from the short stint they had in marriage and want to diss men in their gender activities.Dark ages hahahahahaha i would definetely love to live in the dark ages only that i missed the bus.

So it’s true when they idiots can’t admit their idiocy. I don’t need to produce evidence for you. That’s the reality, and its becoming had to face it. A child watches an action movie on TV and after that takes his fathers service Pistol and shoots a friend and he dies. What or who do you blame, a gun or a person who invented it, or a person who kept a gun in the house, TV or a person who invented it? I blame the person who invented it and his machine. That’s where the child got his enthusiasm from. A girl watches fashion show on TV, gets interested with the mini skirt which she saw, creates the same out fit. The next day she gets raped by some men who got carried away after the girl exposed herself. Someone watches the Bold and the Beautiful, and the next thing she finds herself divorcing her man for her father in-law and divorcing the father in-law to the same man and leaving the man for his brother and leaving the brother to her daughter’s man and leaving her daughters man to a total stranger. She leaves the stranger and goes back to the first man and she sleeps with the stranger on the eve of their wedding. The daughter finds out that her mothers man who is her half brother is no longer her biological brother, she fall for him! She fights with the mother. Finally she falls for the stranger and her mother got married to the man, who a while later finds himself with two wives! His dead wife did not die! He chooses the dead wife over this woman. She falls for her daughter’s man, who is the stranger! Wait a minute the daughter is pregnant! And the father in-law leaves his wife and he want the same woman back! Brothers and sisters are going to sleep together here.

And you wonder why most of the women cheat nowadays! Their minds are corrupted. With TV everything is possible but fools like Abre are so blind that they can’t see it.

am not a sexist but i think the whole gender issue is blown out of proportion in malawi, when they say women are equal to men it dont mean they stop wearing panties for pants, its about equal opportunities.if a man can be a security guard women can also be security guards it may be contradictory in a lesser margin but the bottom line is women cant grow diicks.there are so many things women cant do without men's superiority effort.but when it comes to equal opportunities, yes, women can succeed men in running the government, the household, remember that there is no pain worse than child birth yet women endure it.

i grew up in a household run by women and i tell you they know how to handle situations.this kind of made me admire feminine powers, although their efforts are limited compared to men's.they tend to magnify situations and make them far more difficult for themselves to overcome.
