Hello my Guys, I have been living in the Uk for the past 9 years and what I have noticed is that all you guys in the USA, you download pictures of holiday parties and stuff koma anthu aku UK they dont really party like you do guys over there, all I want to say is that keep it up, I'm really impressed with all the wedding pictures etc.. kuno maguys timakhalira ma shift when you invite people even a month in advance they wont come amangoti shift. I think its nice sometimes to put come together and party. Wont it be nice UK people. Another thing kodi ku USA ko Malawians you have money cause I have seen well organised weddings unlike here, give us a clue how you do it guys so we can do the same here. ?Yours fellow Malawian.

True to that my sister. Those of us living in the US we've been trying to ask our fellow malawians over there in the UK to post some of their pictures too (cos I know them too do have gatherings sometimes) but not even one. Some time back we heard that there was some beauty pagent (organised by malawians) and we heard comments about the winners and how the whole thing was and ofcourse we asked for pictures but NADA!!! The unfortunate thing I see here is that people think that when you post your pictures you are showing off. Myself being one of those who left my homeland a long time ago sometimes when I look at these pictures I see people whom I went to school with some dating way back in primary school and it fascinates me to see some of them posing with their new families, looking good ofcourse. So with the upcoming holidays, I know there will be plenty of such gatherings, can you guys in UK post here your pictures. I myself promise hereby not to make any unnecessary comment about your pictures, pliz I just want to see how you guys hold it down there, please chonde!!!!!!!!!!!

I will definately be there, all I need is the address and date, fortunately I dont do shift work so definately I and some fellow Malawians will be there. Looking forward to it. Lets show AMalawi ku USA that we also do have some fun. It does not matter if you do shift work or not all we need to do is meet up and have fun.

Why are you so negative and please do not swear, its childish and rude and by you saying it depends on who your friends are, it completely shows how arrogant you are. I think you are stressed maybe doing shift. I will encourage and also if I could help my fellow Malawians to work and it doesnt matter if is shift or not long as at the end of the day they get paid and be happy. And I dont believe you do not have any friends who does not do shift work and I am sure you are doing shift work yourself.

Guys can you concentrate on the subject, this topic is not about visas. Angelica, I suggest you open up a new topic on visa issues cause it seems it is bothering you. Take it out of your chest. We are are adults here we now our situations and theres always a way out of every situation, just to let my fellow Malawians out there that if you dont know that if you have no Uk Visa and that you've lived in the Uk for 14 years either legal or illegal find a lawyer and sometimes it does work out that you can get an indefinate stay. Theres always a way because I know two people who have done it but mostly they wouldnt advertise it. Most of us Malawians we laugh at other pps misfortunes.

I am arrogant. And somewhat proud of it. I don't see how arrogance is a vice. It serves me quite well actually. And if you don't like my upfront, in your face attitude well, tough.

Besides you didn't even understand my post.

The Malawi folk in the US -especially the South Bend folk, have a tighter community than most of us in the UK. Whether that is a good or bad thing depends on whether you like mixing with Malawians (especially those who bring you down). Or whether you chose to live as an individual.

Personally, I find that living in a close knit Malawian community has always been counter-productive. The petty gossip, everyone sleeping with each other's partners, the alcoholism, lack of intellectual stimulation.... The list is endless. My interest hardly coincide.... It has nothing to do with whether you do shift work or not.

London is a huge city and I can go a whole year without actually seeing another Malawian. I'm not a party person so....

I think part of it may be that when you come to the USA , no matter where ur from the one thing that Americans always stress is to be proud of your roots and where u come from ... communities from all over the world get together to uplift eachother and to try and effect positive change. It also helps that when most of the recent people who came here saw that there was a Malawian organisation already in DC, it inspired them to create there own in different states...


Just becasue people are dressed b/c they are at functions, which is understandable, well doesnt mean they are wealthy... If you want to throw similar weddings in the UK , I would advise finanical planning and saving regardless of income or job.


Theres nothing wrong with hanging out with Malawians, there is something wrong though with ONLY hanging out with Malwians,

The "ONLY" part I agree.

Majority of the Malawian people I know seem to stick within the clique. Almost as if they are afraid of venturing out...

Plus you speak of America is such rosy terms. Absolute nonsense... All that uplifting stuff. The reality of course is a little different...

guys in the uk,a word of advice from game,dont get carried away with parties especially you lot who have no visas and dziphaso,i heard through the grape vine that the whole house party by a malawian couple was brought to a halt when one neibhour complained and police with the immigration department sealed the place off.everyone including the organisers and eni khomo were on the next plane to malawi.so you can imagine chicks in party clothes abale awo kukawatenga timimwado pantunda.


samalani ndithu abale anga.go to school and learn or go to work and make that pound.insha allah.

Abre of course things here are not rosay , by all means, but the reality is that you can name nearly any country in the world and they will have a group " the Laos society, the Nigeria Club, the Zimbabwe Association" etc... There will ALWAYS BE THOSE THAT TRY AND STAY AWAY FROM THE HERD, but you are more likely to remember where you came from when your here...This is the pattern, when people come here they try and blend in naturally, after a while people largely stick to therei groups, and in doing so organisations are formed. Whe u see what other communities are doing people tend to follow suit !

Hi Guys,


What about Africa Tax? I think its also good for all Africans abroad to pay Africa Tax, because they work day and night looking for riches but they don't get enough, and they don't fund any organisation in Africa. So to make them support where they came from, make them pay Africa Tax. The money will help fund relief programs.

the greatest problem with africans is laughing at one another.a visa simply help you to stay freely in a country but it doesnt make you rich. most foreign criminals here have all good papers, but they are serving time in jails.

What does it have to do with a god? People migrate because they want money. What they perceive is a better life for them and their families. Our ancestors have been doing it before religion was invented. Most animals do it to survive. Invoking a god's will to explain what is intrinsically a natural phenomena is of course the ignorant way out...

I can understand your religious background Abres hence cant simply buy migration being as a natural phenomena( Gods own creation). Its rather sad that today we are witnessing the various sects of RELIGION working tirelessly corrupting the original message from GOD to man himself. Gods own message through teachings of Jesus or Muhammad has been still more disfigured by the corruptions of schismatizing followers, who have found an interest in sophisticating and perverting the simple doctrines these prophets taught. Here we go again. Another person blaming the evils of religion on its followers. The problem of religion is that it is based on a flawed concept. The simple fact that there is and has never been any evidence of a God other than in people's imagination means that there is a blank slate of which people attach anything they want in order to personify their beliefs. So what we claim are God's will are simply ours. Our own wishful thinking, prejudices, or collective fears.

People who hate gays for instance say that they do so because it is God's will. How convenient. Same applies to everything in religion. I mean just read the Old Testament and see the amount of genocide and racism that is attributed to god's will.
