a Malawian farmer was interviewed on the BBC about two days ago, it was a short documentary on powerful cartel being accused of short-changing farmers trying to trade tobacco in Malawi. The report was compired by Tim Samuels and his guest farmer was Wilisoni from ku Dowa. Follow this link and see if you can listen and watch

Yeah saw it too on Newsnight. Didn't think that it was insightful enough. Something every Malawian knew already. It was awfully patronising to the farmers. The way the farmer was calling the white man boss made me cringe and highlighted the MAIN problem about the whole industry and society.
I agree, the whiteman even had the cheek to ask the farmer if he knew what "yield" is,pity indeed!

I couldn't agree with you more. Unfortunately, the west has spent major resources trying to demonise Osama as some bogey-man, heading an organisation responsible for all terrorist attacks all over the world. And people are buying it of course!
I came across some boys the other day saying how much they hated Osama and wished him dead. When I asked them what he did to them they couldn't even answer. Shows the extent of propaganda.
Unfortunately, people; especially Americans don't seem to ask questions about anything...
That short feature was a sad piece indeed... It does make me feel like returning to Malawi to start a revolution, totally Bin-Laden like...
