I was so shocked to read the Daily Times of today that a certain businessman is milling stones and selling it to Malawians as maize flour. Guys I feel that this is abuse of highest order to the human kind and something needs to be done. How could a sane person think doing that. This guy needs to be prosecuted or persecuted and forced to leave Malawi. So forum members what do think of this issue? May be we can make some noise as we did when Bingu wanted to buy Maybach.
word, but whoever buys this is definately desperate or insane because maize flour for all i know is white so if you talking of stones they must be a different colour, whoever is doing this to my people deserves to die by firing squad,he is taking advantage of the situation to make a quick buck regardless of the consequencies, next thing you know people will be eating dog crap because its wrapped in a flour pack.
the problem is with the government, they are busy playing political mind games ignoring the plight of those who put them to power, what has bingu done since taking over apart from putting a few opponents in jail,if people cant make out which colour is maize flour means they been hungry for a very long time and their vision is blurred thats why they are being taken advantage of.

You know, I wonder whether the time and money spent by the president fighting the former administration's "corruption" has been worth it. From what I can see its nothing but a political witch-hunt disguised as a "fighting corruption" program put out to please so-called donors that their money is being well spent.
Bollocks if you ask me.
The issues at hand. It is criminal offense and should be treated as such if the person is found guilty that is. Is it any surprising? I mean foreign drug companies do stuff like that with drugs all the time. Probably worse. That doesn't excuse it by any means. It is not only an abuse of trust but a cold-hearted calculated crime, made worse by the fact that it is targetting vulnerable, hungry and desperate people - like most crimes do anyway.
And you guys curse us for saying Malawi is a dump.... There's your evidence if you ask me...
ha ha ha ha!!!!!! there you r abre.Mulopwana read the paper again, its a mixture of rotten maize, good maize and soil.......and the mill has been closed immediately and the gvnt is taking the trader to court.I think you caant work more than this.
This should not justify that malawi is a dump, but we have crooked traders in malawi as we have them in european countries.

Yes and I was making a statement based on Mulo's post since I hadn't read the article or followed the case.
But also the "dump" statement could be refered to the fact that Malawi is a dump for foreign regects and a testing ground for policies. Her sad little president; at least Muluzi had balls, giving out chunks of the ecomomy to multinational control.
I bet to differ abre on Muluzi,he made our country a reject,i dont admire him.Hes the only malawi president who is dull, jce holder, couldnt pronounce education

Much as I would not prefer to be brainwashed into believing that Malawi is dump, this issue of allowing an Asian selling soil or milled stones render us to be. How could the whole government just act by closing the factory. What about the owner who knew well what he was doing? If we are not dump then we couldnt allow this person to rip us and make us eat stones or soil and then let him scot free. I believe the govt should have done more by arresting this guy immediately and then calculate how much money the company has made by selling this "flour" and let him pay back whether in cash or his properties.
Infact this Asian has done more harm to Malawi than Mpasu or Mwawa. Indeed Bingu is losing focus because of this war on corruption which is only targeted to those who speak against his govt.

The paper says the govt is exploring avenues of taking this guy to court. You are a Malawian and you know how we work there. There is no follow up in govt and closing the factory is the end of the story. Infact if you read the paper it seems to me the govt is satisfied with just closing the factory and withdrawing the flour from the market. Thats why I thought of bringing this issue here.
Mulo, there are laws to be followed and thats what the gvmt is doing and you will see next. This does not justify that malawi is a dump, then lets look at the dubai cars, they have been to every african country.....exept south africa where am told they r banned. Now,Mwawa was in the wrong and it took time for him to face the courts and to be hanged and the same wwith mpasu....and dont tell me its political wwitch hunt no no noooo. They are just answering to what they did.

Of course its a witch hunt. The biggest thief of all, the great big Man Muluzi himself is untouchable. It's not to say that they are not in the wrong.
South Africa has made a great decision to ban Dubai cars. It would undermine their local industry if they let cheap, shoddy, reconditioned, duty free cars into their country. Shows that South Africa at least has clout on the world stage.
Am dying to see Muluzi judged and hanged,he tried to destroy evidence of his embezlement of gvt coffers,he thought he was clever but now hes in the net.In due course you will hear him cry about witches hunting him.
For your information Malawi is still suffering from corruption syndrome and this will take a tough man to dose it out. Most of Malawi civil servants have their pants labelled corruption,go to NGOs the same thing and check the judiciary still corrupt ,the story is long. This is why these Indians seem to be untouchable becoz any opponent on his way is slapped with 500 kwacha notes.
But Bingu has taken a different way,he has differed himself from Muluzi, and that is if he himself has no pant with corrupt label.
