before i joinened the civil service i was working for this malawian of asian origin brother. to be honest this guy was one of the good heated and well assimilated mmwenye.this guy is a typical malawian as he knows evrything malawi even katangale big tyme.
my problem with this guy is he coulnd trust we indignous malawians. he could even import indian drivers who were rude to us. they even wanted to be even called boss. imagine being bossed by a driver from india who couldnt even spell india.
now i would liketo what does malawian laws say about importation of labour force and what can be done to stop this exploitation of locals back home. i mean does our laws protect us from these guys who come from very far and even poorer societies to abuse us?
How can you call a driver boss, are you ok.Abre, you are talking to a nigerian not a malawian who may know what to,elaaa.
I take it this is a private firm. Then the owner has the right to hire whoever he feels fit as long as it is within the law of the country. If you don't like calling someone boss then you can quit and stop your whining and wingeing.
I think Abre you are just responding to issues without really reading between the lines. I thought this forum was meant to offer solutions to some of the problems we face as Malawians whether in UK or back home. If you have never experienced this problem of being exploited by useless guys from Bombay then you are lucky. It is very bad to be taken as a slave in your own country today. I can tell you that it is really bad and I for one experienced it. As a Project Manager, I was supposed to be reporting to the Director but was told to be reporting to the foreman. I magine that. I refused the arrangement and resigned without even serving a notice. But for people with less papers it might not be possible to do that. So lets find solutions to that rather than telling somebody to go to immigration or that this site is not meant for these problems. Then tell me what is this forum meant for?
This forum is not meant for anything other than chit chat. I always state that the right to freedom of speech doesn't include the right to be taken seriously.
Every entrepreneur has the right (within the law) to treat his employees as he sees fit. If you ever feel exploited you have the right to quit as you are not a slave. So if you think an Indian treats you unfairly then you can always quit. If you think he's breaking the law it is your responsibility to report him to the appropriate authorities. It's not really helpful to moan to we strangers about it. For one we live miles away and don't really give a hoot. Two, either you stick it in like a man or just quit!
