Has image taken over our world? I'm one who likes to look and smell good too but i feel i cant keep up with the trends any longer, every one on TV and magazines, billboards and buses etc is skinny and make a whole load of women feel Fat and Ugly!! This is my message to all women, you look good and dont need air brushing to look better.whatever we see on t.v or anywhere is what they want us to see after serious manipulation.
I think beauty and the quest for it however superficial has always been there. Maybe not as commercialised as it is now. What is new it the belief of self. The notion that "you are beautiful no matter what they say". People judge each other by looks.
What is termed as beautiful changes with generation and is mostly influenced by the cosmetic industry. What we should be asking is why we are so swayed by "beauty" (superficially at least) and not intelligence. If you ask any man honestly whether he prefers a hot, slutty, young bimbo with a high sex drive and great cook to an intellectual, opinionated high-earning but plain looking woman you know what his choice would be. I all boils down to reproduction and sex. Humans want they best offspring they can get. Men want the best chances of getting to spread their seed.
It's not that simple obviously but I pretty much think that's the gist of it
sex appeal these days has gone to the dogs!!! It is now a form of get what you can whenever you can because it sells, our minds have been greatly tampered with and we haven,t realised it. men too are feeling the pressure not only women mind you. Women are being shown all sorts of tricks to expect from men and the main priority is a man should have a BIG WEAPON!!! What ever happened to true love then?? why should big boobs,booty,6pack and big d**** distort our way of life? after all they all sag and get wrinkles too so what do you do after, fit some new ones???
Was there ever a time in the past when it was different? You make it seem like there were good old days when things were better. Trust me sex has always been commodified.
