humans and clones

friends.

this might sound a bit out of topic but i just want to find out from fellow members if cloning humans would be playing God or its just another scientific advancement or just the same as technological.over the years scientists have been using genes and DNA in order to make clones and they have successfully achieved what many people thought was a swing at God.so what i really want to find out is whether reproduction is the only desired and appropriate way for procreation in humans than recombination.

thinking of cloning i think it would be better and handy if one loses a leg lets say in a car accident and get one cloned put back, but am not sure if it would work if one loses life.

They used to say that IVF was "playing God". Abortion was "playing God". The truth is as soon as some companies find a way to exploit the cloning technology for money the ethics we so argue about will gradually fade away.

The problem is that it hasn't been perfected yet. The technology is still in its infancy and scientists are scpetical about how well it can work.

Procreation i.e. sex is still the best way. Millions of evolution years have perfected it. We'll get there someday.

abre.

people who think IVF is playing God are not just ignorant but scared of the inevitable change in human existance,my arguement on cloning is based on the fact that i truelly support it on another level like cloning of sheep but not when it comes to humans because i know what human beings are capable of,if they can hold fellow humans into slavery just because of the colour of their skin do you think their viewpoint on cloned humans would be the same?

look at it this way,we all know that we exist due to reproduction, that is joint efforts between man and woman so just to have someone in our society who exists solely because of cloning would be scarely to human beings.if we can look strangely at people with crossed eyes or the disabled i know some people do no offence, how can we look at someone we really know exists not through reproduction but by means of cloning.

I agree. But even reproduction itself; being the only way to procreate has its own flaws in terme of society. I'll explain.

The amount of unwanted children born every year for instance. Parents have children only to abuse them etc. As long as human nature is the way it is any new for of procreation will be used for unconventional, maybe "evil" (a relative term).

But we have opened a pandoras box of knowledge. We know that it is possible to clone. As far as scientists are concerned they will eventually do it. It's only a matter of time.

To begin with it will probably be used to treat diseases like lukemia or cancers. Scientists are already experimenting with modifying offspring to have certain characteristics so they can donate blood cells for their sick siblings. Cloning is the next step. Of course after years of negative press from sci-fi we only see the worst results of what will arguable be the breakthrough of this century.

ok now that we know it is possible to clone, dont you think its still ethically improper?look at the dramatic change the human race would go through that is if they clone humans,as much as it is a medical breakthrough which is one of the reasons i sometimes become a major proponent, dont you think its still an abuse of intelligence?

look at michael jackson's face,or the women that inject silicon despite being a dream for every flat chested woman, its still controversially alianated by those who condemn it.think of the side effects of it all,the effect cloning can cause on the value of human perspective.,

I think we've done enough damage or at least already have enough potential to distroy ourselves. The technology for cloning is very, very complex and I can't really forsee it being used as a wholesome way of duplicating people. It is more likely to be used for surgical purposes. Either way, I think the idea of ethics is a fleeting one. What are ethics anyway? Who is to decide what ethics are? Besides they vary from place to place. Most agnostic scientist would see it differently. I doubt if it would be left to the clergy to decide seeing that they don't know much about how it works.

As for cosmetic surgery. Well, I have nothing against it. We all can go on about Michael Jackson or silicone breasts but hei? That's how it is and it is increasing. It is more about personal confidence. It is a social malaise than anything else but that's another argument.
