WHAT WILL HAPPEN TO US WHEN OUR WORLD RUNS OUT OF OIL?
Permalink Closed

What will happen to us when the wells run dry of oil.

We live in a world where owning a car is a necessity.  To think that the first car was only manufactured a couple of years ago, now they are over a billion of cars on our roads.

We are dependent on fuel for energy.  Our economies even depend on it.  One example is to look at the american economy and the reasons for invading Iraq.  Everyday more cars are being manufactured  and the demand for oil keeps on increasing.  Will OPEC and other oil producing nations be able to continue to supply us with enough oil?  What about when these countries run dry of oil.  What will happen to our children when we over use the natural resorces?

Do we have alternatives to crude oil?  Are our countries planning for life without crude oil?  What will happen to developing countries when we run out of cheap crude oil?  Fuel is already expensive as it is now I see no hope for the future.

I think alot of countries are working hard at the moment to reduce the use of such type of energy. basically what I am trying to say is innovation in renewable source of energy shall dictate our future reliance on Oil. I have seen in United States on TV that GM has produced a motor vehicles which are running on Hydrogen. This is just one kind of innovation after seing such crissis comming ahead of us. This innovation has a cost to it these vehicles are damn expensive but if governments can invest in it this, the end product can be cheaper at the end of the day. I have seen alot of other sources of energy like steam. I think people are not sleeping at all trying to ind new sources that can replace Oil.

Yes they are doing something.  But i feel the progress is very slow.  I read on the internet www.dieoff.com/page140.htm something about no-one really knows when exactly the wells will dry out it could be in 50yrs time or even longer but in 10yrs the use of fuel will increase a lot, meaning that the demand will surpass the supply making fuel to become very expensive.  So what we can do now to make sure that we still get reasonable crude oil is to reduce or maintain the same usage of fuel.  In other ways not over using.

We are getting a lot of SUVs or 4x4s which use up a lot of fuel, in future it looks like these are going to be the majority of cars on ours roads.  One cant help but wonder about pollution.  May be a life without fuel want be bad at all.  May be it will mean no pollution.  One way it will be good the other way its going to be expensive meaning that the gap between the rich and poor countries will continue increasing.  What is going to happen to those rich Saudis today the world seems to depend on them.  No real democracy in Saudi arabia but the americans seems to tolerate this.

I  don't think oil will be that big of a problem. True, prices will go higher. Unless, of course, the US government ciels the prices, and doesn't allow the market to regulate itself. However, there isn't that much pressure on the oil being secured in Iraq. Canada is actually the US's main oil supplier. Plus, the kind of engineering that is being done in the US will put an end to these high fuel consuming cars. It just so happens, that the hybrid cars are getting more and more in demand by car dealers on the east coast. Its actually the "in-thing" in california.
