I'm sure we all know people and perhaps have been guilty ourselves of understanding the error associated with our own perspectives at one time or another, yet venture in all kinds of directions except the exposure of the error itself. And to be perfectly honest, there have been times that I have submitted a position on something and someone responds with a retort that knocks it down completely, although I feel compelled to defend as opposed to accept the potential faults with every perspective even my own (heaven forbid).
You see this a lot here. People arguing over the most trivial things, yet a lot of the dialogue seems to be defending yourself from being wrong as opposed to exploring errors themselves.
Considering those moments in which we realize our position was mistaken, it is still a challenge to accept error when faced with it. What is it about being "wrong" that stabs us morally?

Abre , Please try to type in small letters, its kinda scary when one looks at what you have written , its like you shouting just a thought , dont bite my head off , anways back to the topic. Everybody has their take on things. The thing that bothers me is that we all seem to have a few ideas we just accept and then spend the rest of our lives building on what we already presuppose. We got these from parents, teachers, peers someone, but most of us will rarely change our starting assumptions
So tell me then Is it then naive to presume that we really seek knowledge? Isn't it more plausible to say that we really only seek what fits in with our picture (or paradigm) of the world? Is everyone else really far more open minded than me, or are we all just pretending because that's the thing to do?

You've got a point there Lady B, and you know what? Not having the ablity to see things as they are as oppssed to what I believe them to be scares me to death! I think; If I subconciously base my desicions entirely on ingrained principles, beliefs and ideas, and less on observation and analysis, how long will it be before I unwittingly act off a total misconception? First of all, will I EVER make a relevant decision? Will I ever have the capacity to innovate? To learn? To live? It is a scary thought.
HOPE YOU NEVER TURN TO RELIGION AS AN EASY WAY OUT TO UNDERSTANDING THE WORLD AROUND YOU....
ONE HAS TO RESIST THE TEMPTATION TO BE DIDACTIC ABOUT LIFE. IF YOU LOOK CLOSELY YOU'LL FIND THAT THE WORLD WE LIVE IN IS JUST A SERIES OF RANDOM HAPPENINGS. COINCIDENTAL. CHAOTIC.
WE LIVE IN A WORLD THAT WANTS THE FRUITS OF SCIENTIFIC LABOUR BUT REFUSES THE MENTAL DISCIPLINE OF SCIENTIFIC RATIONALITY. SINCE THE WORDL IS TOO COMPLEX TO UNDERSTAND IN ITS ENTIRETY ALL OF US WILL SOMETIMES SHAKE OUR HEADS IN WONDER AT THE TURN OF EVENTS IN WHICH WE FIND OURSELVES. MANY WILL FIND THIS UNCERTAINTY ANXIETY PROVOKING, AND WILL LOOK AROUND FOR A CONVENIENT ESCAPE.
BELIEF BY FAITH IS IN ITSELF IRRATIONAL. BELIEF IN THE ABSENCE OF VERIFICATION. FAITH IS SECURED AS IT APPEALS TO EMOTION RATHER THAN INTELLECT. THAT WAY IT DOESN'T HAVE TO VERIFY ITSELF. ALL IT HAS TO DO IS CREATE THE NECCESARY EMOTION OR "PASSION"
FOR THAT REASON. AND A WHOLE LOT OF OTHERS. I FIND RELIGION TO BE MISSLEADING.
Abre i agree , but that doesnt mean there is no God now does it ??Religious organizations become corrupt because their members develop "a pretense of spirituality" based on their belief that their interpretation of the truth is free of error and that they themselves are therefore superior to others. All religions have been founded by those who aspire to control others, with the pretense being that they have altruistic intentions; they wish to exploit those who only have the capacity to follow. People who know they are God in their essence do not need the advice of those who merely claim to be God's representatives.

SOME PHILOSPHERS SAY THAT THE PROBLEM WITH GOD IS RELIGION AND I SEE WHERE YOU ARE COMING FROM AND UNDERSTAND ENTIRELY.
EVEN 'THOUGH I STAND BY MY DISBELIEF IN ANY SUPREME POWER OR BEING (GOD) I THOROUGHLY SYMPATHISE WITH PEOPLE WHO DO. BUT I HAVE NOTHING BUT DISDAIN FOR RELIGION IN GENERAL.
WELL I CAN GO ON AND ON ABOUT WHY.. BUT I'M REALLY AM NOT IN THE MOOD TO OFFEND ANY RELIGIOUS TYPES AS I KNOW THEY CAN BE QUITE TOUCHY ABOUT THEIR FAITHS...
