Am not into politics that much , but i thought i should comment , i read this in a book a awhile a go it said that "Neither blindness nor ignorance corrupts people and governments. They soon realize where the path they have taken is leading them. But, there is an impulse wihin them, favoured by their natures and reinforced by their habits, which they do not resist; it continues to propel them forward as long as they have a remnant of strength. i think that all people should fight our habits and go for the divinty that is within us.if anyone reads marcus aurelius that person can be exposed to the truth in some conceps of life.i know our goverment is corrupt but like marcus says every human has a bad nature to sin and do wrong.there is no point in talking about how bad our goverment is becase it will always be bad as long as human beings are running it.we should deal with what we got and think about how we can make it better.think of all things,every thing has a purpose.

We cling too much to our beliefs, way of thinking-- and in the end we’re not willing to "do something about it".

BEING A LEADER MEANS THAT THE AVERAGE MAN BELIEVES THAT YOU SHOULD BE INVESTED WITH CERTAIN POWERS THAT ARE NOT AVAILABLE TO HIM. IT SHOULD ALSO MEAN (AT LEAST IN THEORY) THAT HE SHOULD BE GIVEN THE EQUAL POWER TO REMOVE YOU FROM OFFICE IF YOU ARE UNFIT. HENCE, IF THE CONSENSUS IS THAT BINGU IS AN INADEQUATE LEADER HE SHOULD BE REMOVED BY THE NECESSARY MEANS. IT'S THAT SIMPLE.

At times i think its better to have a president who gets a raise rather than the guy who doesnt get one but keeps on stealing. Atleast this gives the entire nation a chance to challenge the decision, may be if you hear his argument you will agree or come to common grounds. We have to remember that being a president is a career achievement and they also deserve a reasonable reward(not a chrysler maybach). These politicians are trying to survive just like you and me.

YES BUT WE DON'T NEED OUR POLITICIANS TO "SURVIVE". WE NEED THEM TO WORK FOR US WHOLE-HEARTEDLY. THEY ARE "PUBLIC" SERVANTS FOR CRISSAKES! THE REMIT OF POLTICAL OFFICE SHOULD BE LESS SELF-CENTEREDNESS AND MORE ALTRUISM AND REPRESENTATION. IF BINGU OR ANY OTHER LEADER THINKS FIRST OF HIMSELF AND HIS FAMILY THEN HE ISN'T FIT TO RULE THE REST 10 MILLION PEOPLE AND LACKS THE MAIN FUNDAMENTAL SELFLESS QUALITY THAT A LEADER OUGHT TO POSESS.

YES TO AN EXTENT HE IS RIGHT THAT MOST OF US DON'T KNOW WHAT IS HAPPENING IN MW. BUT TO BE HONEST SOMETIMES PROXIMITY BRINGS A SKEWED PERSPECTIVE. WE ALSO FALL FOR THE RISK OF COMAPARING MALAWI TO THE REALTIVE WESTERN SOCIETIES THAT WE LIVE IN. THAT IS MOST UNFAIR. THE MALAWI SOCIETY WORKS AS IT IS. IT MIGHT BE POOR BUT IT IS FAR FROM CHAOTIC. the same problems we faced before leaving motherland are the same problems people are facing right now being in malawi does not make anyone more sane at all.do you want to tell me that people in villages know whether the government is planning to buy bingu a maybach or not,they do not even watch tv and dont even have access to the internet so we are better off and well informed of whats happening in saigon dont tell me that proximity bull,we all know where we come from.

....well it's been a little after a year and the head of state is already recieving a raise? for what exactly? I don't see anything significant Bingu has done that has made Malawi better than it was since May 18th. Sure he put a couple of guys in jail but could we honestly say that he's done 1/5 of a term's worth of service? He, along with Muluzi publicly, attempted to resolve issues with rival parties right after his inauguration. He summoned distinguished members of the private sector to televised a discussion about the economy, with which I must say looked promising. However, a solid Plan has not been set. No agenda, No goals, No progress. Malawians are in the dark
