FACTS ARE UNDISPUTABLE. LIFE AND DEATH. GRAVITY. THE EARTH IS ROUND ETC. THESE ARE FACTS.

FOR INSTANCE; THE US INVADED IRAQ... FACT

BEACAUSE OF WMD... TRUTH

AS A WAR ON ISLAM... TRUTH

TO GET THE OIL... TRUTH

TO FIGHT TERRORISM... TRUTH.

WHAT I'M TRYING TO ESTABLISH HERE IS THAT FACT CAN BE DISTORTED INTO "TRUTH" DEPENDING ON WHICH SIDE YOU'RE ON AND WHO YOU BELEIVE.

IN ADDITION THAT IS WHY A WELL-ROUNDED EDUCATION IS IMPORTANT. ITS THE ONLY DEFENCE WE HAVE IN THIS WORLD PARTICULARLY TODAY WHEN INFORMATION IS THE NEW TECHNOLOGY. IT'S INCREASINGLY EASIER TO LIE TO THE MASSES AS IT IS EQUALLY EASIER TO LEARN THE TRUTH AND COMMUNICATE IT. NEVER IN THE HISTORY OF MAN HAS INFORMATION BEEN THIS ABUNDANT AND WHERE THE TRUTH IS IMPORTANT IN ORDER TO WADE THROUGH THIS ABUNDANCE. EVERY WORTHLESS OPINION IS PUT ON THE INTERNET. THIS IS THE PURESET FORM OF FREEDOM OF SPEECH AND I AM ALWAYS SUSPECT ABOUT FORCES THAT WANT TO CONTROL IT "FOR OUR SAFETY" OR THE SAFETY OF OUR "CHILDREN".

GOVERNMENTS ARE FINDING IT HARDER TO LIE TO THEIR MASSES. IT HAS LEFT THEM WITH THE ONLY ALTERNATIVE. TO PREACH FEAR. TERROR. AMERICA IS A CASE IN POINT. SINCE THE AMERICAN PUBLIC IS PRETTY MUCH MISINFORMED THAT MAKES IT EASIER. I MEAN ANY COUNTRY THAT PRODUCES FOX NEWS HAS TO BE UNCIVILISED.

well that makes a bit of sense , cos sometimes i tendto believe that Nothing exists but the mind. You create your reality with your thoughts so in order to prevent yourself from accidently creating a crap reality it is best not to think at all.

I think it's like this. Truth can only exist in a closed system where the communicative rules are defined and observed but i still believe that in life there is no truth
because the human entity is designed to 'bend' truth for reasons of survival and procreation. There are shades of truth, and some of us are 'more truthful' than others. no means of communicating a truth because the communicative rules are understood and implemented differently by each individual. Sometimes communication can be very effective in short bursts, mostly not so good.

This does mean that it is nigh on impossible to describe your emotions effectively.

EMOTIONS ARE IN ALL RESPECTS VALUELESS DUE TO THEIR CONSTANT CHANGES. ONE CAN SAY THAT EMOTIONS ARE CAUSED BYCHEMICALS IN YOUR BODY REACTING AS A RESULT OF EXTERNAL STIMULI.

I WATCH A FILM WITH MY GIRL. SHE HAS TEARS IN HER EYES, BUT I'M BORED STIFF. SAME STIMULI DIFFERENT REACTIONS HENCE DIFFERENT REALITIES.

WHAT IS TRUTH? NOTHING. WHY DO WE BOTHER PHILOSOPHISING ABOUT ITS RELATIVITY. IT'S ALL SUBJECTIVE ANYWAY. BUT SUBJECTIVITY IS OBJECTIVE IN ITSELF. WHERE DO WE STAND. BETWEEN BIRTH AND DEATH'S INEVITABILITY WE CREATE OUR OWN REALITY IN DIFFERENT MAKESHIFT VERSIONS. IT'S HOW WE UNDERSTAND OUR LIVES. WE CREATE GOD, HELL, HEAVEN, ETERNITY, UNHAPPINESS, HAPPINESS BECAUSE WE NEED MEANING. OUR INTELLIGENCE AS HUMANS DEMAND IT. IT IS PERFECTLY POSSIBLE TO CREATE OUR OWN INDIVIDUAL REALITY; SOMETIMES IT BECOMES A DISEASE OR SICKNESS (WHEN IT WONDERS TOO FAR) SOMETIMES IT; BY CHANCE OR POLITICS BECOMES ORGANISED RELIGION.

AT THE END OF THE DAY WE ARE JUST A SPECK IN THE UNIVERSE. UNIMPORTANT EVEN BY VIRTUE OF OUR UNIQUENESS. WITH SHORT LIFESPANS.

SOMEONE ONCE ASKED ME WHY IT WAS THAT ONLY MAN OUT OF ALL LIVING THINGS IN THIS WORLD THAT DOESN'T REALISE THAT THE MAIN PURPOSE OF LIFE IS TO ENJOY IT.

NOW THAT IS THE QUESTION NO HUMAN CAN ANSWER BECAUSE THERE IS NO ANSWER. WE HAVE BUILT CIVILISATIONS, SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGY, MODIFIED OUR WORLD RECOGNISABLE, FOUND NEW AND SPECTACULAR WAYS TO KILL OURSELVES AND OUR ENVIRONMENT BUT THERE IS ONE THING WE HAVEN'T DONE BETTER. OUR HAPPINES. THE RICHER WE GET, THE MORE WE KNOW, THE UNHAPPIER WE ARE.

I GUESS BUDDHIST MONKS HAVE IT MADE. LIVING ON MOUNTAIN RETREATS. NO MATERIAL POSSESSIONS. MEDITATING. STRIVING FOR SELF-ENLIGHTENMENT AND PEACE OF MIND. THE HIGHEST STATE OR NIRVANA. IF I WAS RELIGIOUS IT WOULD BE THE MOST SENSIBLE ROUTE TO THE DEITY. BEING AT TOTAL PEACE WITH THE WORLD. WOULDN'T THAT STOP WARS AND ALL THIS SENSELESS KILLINGS? I DON'T KNOW.

BUT MAN IS MAN. FLAWS AND ALL. WE KILL BECAUSE OUR NEED TO COVET. TO SURVIVE.

THE ANSWER IS PROBABLY THERE IS NO TRUTH.

I believe that what one person experiances as the truth is another persons lie, and it's all down to how we percieve things. Data passes through too many perceptual sets for it ever to be wholly true. Or I could be telling fibs.

for most people life is a battleground between the truth,fact,lies,sensation and power dominated egos.to experiency the truth in ones life one has to let his mind return to the gentle calmeness that most infants enjoy.

Open your eyes and what you see is truth. Close your eyes and what you remember are lies. it think If you know the truth but say something else, you are being dishonest. If you speak what you beleive but it is not the truth, you are merely mistaken.

I think it's like this. Truth can only exist in a closed system where the communicative rules are defined and observed - I would cite mathematics or formal logic as examples but I expect somebody would prove the example wrong then claim to have proved the concept wrong.
