Mzimba District Education Manager Patson Nyirongo has accused parents and headmasters of hiding teachers that impregnate pupils in schools. Nyirongo was speaking on Friday at Kabuwa Primary School during a Global Campaign on Education function. “But what worries me is that when such a situation happens, teachers, with the assistance from the headmaster, connive with parents to hide the incident. And by the time the district office learns about the incident, proof has already been hidden,” he said. Nyirongo told the parents that they are the losers in the end as their children’s future is doomed while those teachers continue to receive their salaries. The manager also bemoaned lack of teachers in the area, disclosing that six schools in the Kabuwa Zone have got only 21 teachers. He said the drop in the number of teachers is caused by deaths, retirements and upgrading system which takes the teachers to secondary schools after upgrading at Domasi. He also said many teachers refuse to go to the schools in the zone because it is surrounded by rivers without bridges and that essentials like maize mills and groceries are very far. Inkosi ya Makosi M’mbelwa asked village headmen to be in the forefront in sending children in their areas to school. He said a village leader who does not act when children in his area do not go to school is not fit for the job. “Some parents say that since they finished school in Standard Three, then their children should also do the same. That is killing the future of your children as things have now changed,” he warned. The global campaign was funded by Action Aid Malawi.
I wish all those gay bashers out there would feel as strongly or evn more strongly against rape. We need to change the language by journalists and define situations like this as rape of minors. B/c thats what it is... Instead of bashing guys that are spending time with other adults. Please target those guys that are spending time with somebodys baby sister.

Sex with young underage girls sadly, is a practice that is still accepatble in MW. Poverty is one of the reasons why young girls are pressured into it.
Young girls should also be taught to value themselves. Poverty is not an excuse to ( i would have used another word but since i got a warning:)sleep with their teachers,I went to an all girls school and most if the teachers there tried their games on me but I knew I was there for education and nothing more and i think most girls would agree that they experienced the same. It's not only the fault of the teachers, parents should grind strong morals into their children, a teacher is only a teacher and biology practicles have a limit!
you can teach morals all you want, but sometimes when your poor , your poor. Some people would give up ther bodies, for some chicken or for some kauanjika (pardon the spelling) clothes. A lot of the guys also give them false promises, and the girls think they will get married and live an easy life- they end up becoming baby mamas....I think poverty has a lot to do with it b/c u have limited decisions. Sometimes pple are forced to throw there morals out the door for some bread.
Indeed povery has a lot to do with it but its not the only cause.
From what i have heard most malawian youth are the ones dating older people. How many girls that have well to do parents have ended up dating sugardads. From my days of highschool i knew a couple of girls that did. What about those that sleep with Avepi? Is this poverty or just plain lust.
The youth should be on the frontline on taking resposibilities for their actions adn not pointing fingures at others.

Infact what kind of marals would you have if you could sell your body for chicken and kaunjika?? children should be taught to respect themselves and except the fact that they can't always get what other people have and that material things are not worth their lives. i too have seen well to do girls have affairs with teachers,it's not that they needed chicken or kaunjika but they just wanted extra material stuff. Some even slept with teachers to pass exams because they were too busy playing around in class while we others were learning.
