your question is kind of broad but i personally think that you should first of all research your market and the gather as much info on the product and the entire business around the product. This can range from Chamba to Ziboliboli.
I mean, if u were given the option to market any legal (there goes chamba) Malawian product so that its name becomes synonymous with class in any world market what would it be ..like Cuban Cigars, Kenyan Coffee, South African Diamonds...fill the blank, " Malawian ...."
...Chamba.... As in Columbian cocaine, Russian Brides, Eastern European hookers, Middle Eastern Terrorists, Afghanistan opium, that's all Malawi has that can compete on an international scale, Illegal or not!
This was a good topic, but the ideas people are coming up with leave much to be desired. I think Sobo[people like it, its good, with a little bit of marketing and improvement maybe it can make it] or periperi Nali[I know that dude exports, but he can still do more] or Malawi gin

Malawian gold........Every time I tell people that im from malawi they refer to malawi gold (chamba)so if even poeple who haven't been to malawi know about it dont you think that could be one of the best exports of our poor country(IF IT WAS LEGAL)If i were given a market option that would be it and I would be RRRRRICH!!!!wishful thinkin
Give me a few years, I'll acquire Mzuzu Coffee, get a suppliers deal with Starbucks and create a global image for the brand which will help me get deals with the big boys (Walmart & Tesco plc) and absolutely dominate the coffee market.
After that, I'll be so loaded I'll be able to lobby on a global scale and get the markets in which my coffee corporation is active to legalise Malawi gold and then... (here's the clincher), use the financial, marketing, production, and logistics capacity I've developed over the years to distribute the commodity of the 21st century... Nyasa Gold. Ka-Ching!
I think Gin would do it - The Malawi Gin is nice, and sweet, and wont deplete any of the big natural resources that are already in trouble like fish and Wood - I think we should all work on promoting this - Sobo - I can not see in an Americn market competting with Kool-Aid .... but Gin ...hmmm...

There's a worldwide shortage in paprika right now. It grows very well in most regions of the Country and Lord knows we have enough land lying fallow. If we could build a few factories to manufacture it into different stuff we would go places. And I believe I've mentioned before in another thread that paprika is what cosmetic companies use as the base for makeup!
Think about that, we could even start our own cosmetics range...
i wanted to go with mzuzu coffee but let me agree with Griffin.from where i live in England alot of asian people make money by importing Nali from malawi.and its in high demand.someone even got a deal with a big asian supermarket it looks promising.
so you know asians once they fall in love with somthing they want the whole world to get it.soon enough you will be buying Nali in one of the big retailers in your area.

In England yes, but in America , they make it diffucult to export goods here , AGOA really screws us over. But Nali and Gin would do the trick...but do Malawians themselves use Paprika- its kinda hard to sell products that Malawians do not generally use I mean, most people when it comes to marketing stuff, need to market the culture of the product as well...
Hmmm... you have a point there. Maybe if one of you chemical scientists came up with a liquor distilled from or flavoured with Paprika. Us guys love drinking too much and are fiercely proud of it. Something along the lines of Sambuca or tequila... Titrate away! How to get Malawians to identify with paprika, there's a real puzzler. And Malawian Gin is nowhere near being marketed enough yet, continentally or globally. If Malawi distilleries were more aggressive they could probably snag a deal with a big international distributor.
Nali are on the verge of a big breakthrough true but the sheer demands being placed by the chain that wants to distribute their product is a setback. It would mean upping current production levels manyfold and that's not easy to do in the current economic climate.
