Yep! I have no trouble disclosing the results. I got the strength from a good friend of mine who turned positive and is living a healthy life with love and support from her friends and family.
We need to accept one thing. AIDS is just a disease. It can happen to anybody. Like cancer diabetes. Even though we cant cure it, we can live healthy with it. Like Tiyo said with suppport from friends and family, you can live a full life.
The first step is to acknowledge it to your mates and family. Confessions is good for the soul. Yes, it's a cliche, but it's true...
shame on us. there are many malawian AIDS babies running around. we should be asking, when did u get tested ? anyways, in Malawi AIDS is still about sex, we have trouble talking abou sex in Malawi hence, we have trouble dealing with its deiseases. AIDS can be obtained from a number of thing snot just sex so we should stop linking it to promiscuity. I know that this is a world wide phenom. linking AIDS and sex- but we can do better.
In Malawi, like most other thrid world African nations,it is the middle class, the educated, people , the guys with cash - u and me - that are spreading the disease and deiying from it. In the developed world it is mainly the gay community and the poor. strange. Most pple on this list are considered middle class so its interesting that many are not tested.
tested i have been and Negative i am. Its always good to know where you stand no matter what. They normaly test you a couple of time in a 6 months period.
Malawi can make a great step agains AIDS by breaking the taboo of talking about sex. who is gonna step up and lead on this endeavor?
I get tested every year I feel its just being responsible if you do get tested. Even I dont engage in anything sexual but I do make sure I get tested because u just never know how u can end up getting it. It might be a needle or a glass u can step on outside somewhere u just never know. So i suggest that everyone should get tested and know where u stand its really a good idea

Hi Everybody..My name is Shine Onmou and Iam a Malawian.
Anyway just joined the interesting site and want to incourage everyone who have the courage to get tested. Its easily said than done, like someone said earier there are a lot of Aids/HIV+ kids in this whole world wide even developed countries although its mostly in developing countries. I was scared to do it myself until I was pregnant thank God I was negative, but just imagne if I was positive & the poor baby was infected?? I think we all need to try to get tested before getting pregnant because the children are the victims here. Actually things have changed in Malawi people go and get tested and live if its not too late, those who hesitate of course will die as they are not taking any medications to boost their immune system. So everybody lets get the courage to go & get tested! Being HIV+ is not a crime it can happen to anybody, I personally have lost a lot of loved ones and I know Im not the only one so ma people lets change this by getting tested....
Going for test is only helpful for people to know their status, but PLEASE PROTECT YOURSELF MY FRIENDS!!!IT'S DEADLY OUT THERE.I'm sayin this because i see people still these days acting like there is no tommorrow.Think before you take off your pants, learn from other peoples mistakes, make the death of so many people mean something from learning from it,make their pain and suffering worth something, dont let them die in vain.
