I've been here in the states for about 16years and I've seen alot of pple from different places and countries in Africa. I have noticed that Ghanians, Nigerians, or Lyberians to name a few work together all the time. These pple build each other up in this country and u'll find that most of them have businesses or very good Jobs. Why can't Malawians do the same? Why is that we never build each other up? Why are we really scared to see someone who is doing well? holla back ya'll

I think this tends to be embedded in most of Malawian skulls. I remember when I came here people were telling me that things were so hard to obtain, am talking about things like drivers license which I later found out to be a joke compared to back home. Most of the time we don’t want to take chances and take a risk to find info by ourselves. The greater the risk, the greater the rewards.
Most Malawians are happy to see someone who is struggling rather than somebody who is prospering. I think this goes down to most Malawians aiming low because it’s all about beating the next guy forgetting greater individual goals if they have any.
This is what I go by: you should not compare yourself with others for we all have different backgrounds but rather aim higher in your own goals and be open for advice. You can learn from anybody.
chichi..3yrs ago..I wondered the same thing..guess wot..it is/was the same here in UK..there are quite a few malawians i know here in the UK that will progress your well-bieng spiritually,finacially,career-wise..etc and all of them have good jobs(CIMA,OCP DBAs,ACCAs,CEOs)...you can easily notice them...the first 5mins they open their mouth tells all..same goes to the time wasters/drainers.
am sure there are Malawians there that are just like the Ghanians and the Nigerians..u just havent met them yet..look around..u'll be surprised..Malawians are doing stuff..here we've got university lecturers...company directors...you name it..we didnt have these people 3 years ago. They are really putting Malawi on the map...and helping others do the same.
i think goes down to 'be selective to be effective' and 'personal goals'...some people will drain you, others will increase you
