Secrets of Success
Permalink Closed

This article appeared on www.malawilistings.com. We could all learn a thing or two.

I have always had a keen interest to understand why there are less succesful people than there are failures. Succesful people have always fascinated me. I have always wanted to find out some of the distinguishing factors between succesful people and failures. Over the past 10 years my quest to understand these factors have led me to follow succesful people from different countries and various walks of life.

One thing that amazed me is the fact that the behaviours of most succesful people are very similar. Just like the Bible clearly stipulates how the behaviours that people need to follow in order to go to heaven, there is a road map each one of us can follow if they are to be succesful in everything that we do. One thing that amazes me is that why are more people either unsuccesful or failures in life. I know you want to know how do we define success in this context.  Success is being able to achieve whatever it is you want to get in life. However in this context, success means being financially independent. I don't care what you think, to me, a person can never be free and happy unless he/she has achieved Financial Independence. I get so sad and I am tired of seeing a lot of broke fellas on the streets and our youth following the path to failure. This is why today, I want to share with you my dear friends the secrets to success. From being in a dungeon of debt ie in the negatives, It took Ayatollah less than 4 years to build a net worth of over 1.5 million dollars, and I know most of you can do it too.

Below are the most common denominators that I noticed in almost all of the succesful people I have  been following. I trully don't care how smart you are, if you don't have the below, you are bound to fail in life:

Specialize in one thing and do a great job at it. Normally succesful people do not only have discipline but they also have passion at what they do. I personally know a lot of smart people who got into a field they never liked for the sake of money and they are miserable every day going to work. I like the saying, "Choose a career you like and you will never have to work in your life."

Persistence ie understanding that failure is not the end of the world. When you fail, you get up, learn from your mistakes and move ahead. Life is a lesson in itself but the only bad thing about it is, you only get one shot. People that are afraid of failure will never amount to anything because they do not try.

In life, you have to learn to take chances. I have a friend of mine who always talks about when she wins the Lotto. Guess what, this lady will never win the Lotto because she has never spent a dime to buy a Lotto ticket and I do not see her doing so in the foreseable future. A vision without action is but just a dream. It's good to dream but it's more important to act on your plans and visions.

Patience is also vital to success. Most people expect to get things happen overnight. Well, I got news for you, it takes a lot of pain and time to achieve great things. Impatience can easily make you lose a great window of opportunity.

You also can never underestimate or undermine the role of "luck" in peoples' success. While you can have all the traits and qualities of being succesful in life, you are bound to be average if luck is against you.

It's not too late, the choice is yours

Young man, please don't follow my postings. Looking at your English I fail to understand if you are able to grasp anything out of a paragraph. You simply can not spell and I wonder if you are able to understand anything that a learned person like me writes. It's beyond you. By the way did you even pass any exam in Malawi?

Understandably you hate secondary school teachers because everything they said was possibly Greek to you. Some of us do not share your plight young man. I love all the teachers that taught me and I am thankful for the good job they did. Without them, their encouragement, support and guidance, I probably would not have been as succesful as I am today. They are not my competition, they are my friends and unlike you most are proud of my success and have helped me celebrate all the way.......

Young man, I do not suffer from homophobia. Ayatollah is very well accomplished and is not afraid or prejudiced against people based on sexuality, gender, color of skin or national origin. The only thing I don't have patience for is dumb people like you.

Just in case you missed, Ayatollah is in a very fulfilling relationship with a gorgeous and well accomplished  lady who happens to be from South Africa. Yes, you guessed right, she is a Medical Doctor and she practices at one of the Prestigious hospitals right here in NY. By the way, she is such a darling. The last statement is for you haters. Just in case I forgot to say, She also pulls six figures every year.

Well, this is the internet....we can all claim to be anything....when we are really sh***ty in real life just hinding behind a computer.  Anyway, let say you are successful as you describe yourself, it does not add value to me if you are just going to tell me about the thinking and culture of successful people.  But, no maline...maline alikuti....you know what I mean....ways of wealth creation.... It would have made more sense if you had also addressed those issues...at least may be trying to network on this very public forum.  Otherwise, amenewondiye matama basa....matama sapindulu madala.  Successfully people do not blow their own horns!!!!Amakhala ndi matcholaboyi blowing horns for them. That is what you forgot to add in your post. Your posted sounds like something you just copy out self improvement book....amapanga quote kaya...author and year ngati chonchi (Afana, 2005).....lol....

Ayatollah, I have always been impressed by your work. You are one of the few people on this forum whose writing trully exhibits intellectual prowes. I have noticed that some idiots are jealous of your success and yet many more are questioning your achievements because they have not seen success. They are busy working in nursing homes fighting with senile people day in and day out. They are miserable. They need to open up  their eyes and smell the coffee. America is indeed a land of opportunity and people who know jack get paid. I for one, am happy to see one young succesful Malawian. Osati mmalawi aliyense kumangothera either ku nursing home or mu factory. People, stop hating, go to school and find a good job. The possibilities are end less.

I have not neccesarily agreed with most of the things that Ayatolla has posted in the past, however this time I totally agree with all the principles/traits of successful people that he's outlined in the posting

Passions is a huge cornerstone for success Bill Gates has a passion for computers, Warren Buffet -Finance, Steve Jobs-Computers, Donald Trump -Real Estate. If you can do a research on these people they all had their fair share of failures and the best part is they learned from them and corrected them on the road to becoming exponentially more successful.
Success does come by chance, unless if you were born in a monarchy that's for sure. Failures should not be construed as the end of the road, it's success post poned, its a sign that you're doing something wrong and change of tacticts/strategy should be undertaken.
The value of education cannot be overemphasised, a first degree in North America is like Form Four Certificate in Malawi. There is a greater need for specialisation almost in all fields in the economy, otherwise you lose the competitive advantage over other candidates in the job market, thus end up in the pink collar jobs dominated by poor wages/working conditions.
So peoples lets find our passions, get a higher education, and specialise.

I give credit where its due as far as this posting is concerned and bravo.
