MERRY X-MAS FOREIGN BASED MALAWIANS

The Discussion Forum has lately hoisted various headlands of behavioral concern of some Malawians in UK/US, which unfortunately have never ceased to choke and irritate every noble country member. You are playing a role of promoting integration within the foreign-based Malawian society and as well as home-based country members. You form a sphere for practical opinions and collective exchange of views and I warn all patriotic Malawians to capitalize on this huge wannabe potential and join the circle. 

The topic of UK/US wannabes under discussion has received certain responses that have brought disorientation and has actually witnessed anger, passion, nationalism, culturist values, envy, personal-ineptness, and hatred amongst noble foreign/home-based Malawians due to differences of opinions upon alleged attitudes and behaviors of certain members.

I WONDER, WHY A FUSS? : If certain individual foreign-based Malawians in either USA/UK or somewhere else in the world assume themselves living within either the American or European Dream, I don’t entirely think of that being erroneous in nature. With much regret I have distinguished expressions such as:  “tonse ndife a Malawi”, “a Malawi sachedwa kutengeka?” and then folk tales such as false believing kuti ndife a Malawi ndiye tizisungile ulemu, frankly give no guide at all and are mere indoctrination and brainwashing. There is completely no logic for determining which or what and when we could appropriately apply such sayings in today’s world, thus the usefulness of such sayings is becoming quite limited these days honestly. Where is the evidence that just by encompassing for instance, a Malawian heritage then it means you shouldn’t progress beyond the fringe area of foreigner-related issues and take an active interest in other locales and be as rightful  to do so as anyone from a traditional American / European /Asian / Caribbean background? Those individuals who are living in Americans/British..Dreams must never be discriminated against, persecuted, depressed, or disheartened but be left alone to do as they wish.

FACT 1:

Humanity must embrace cultural diversity. This is the actual root that avoids likelihood of discriminatory and racist behavior within this side of the world we have migrated to today. Brethren, if you are displaying certain cosmopolitan or intercontinental leaning then go on -get it. It’s great to hear Malawians in USA/UK being in the likes of celebrities… by way of demonstrating their talents amongst the ethnic majority. Keep on playing and acting like them. It gives an expression to ones feelings and provides reference points for ones personal development and self assertion. It is in fact an element of social ties and helps to mould group identity.

OUTLOOK: America /UK ……are lands of ideas. In my opinion, that implies curiosity and experimentation. And that means courage, creativity, and delight in new and all realms of life and not to the exclusion of being Malawian.  I am here in England today and not Malawi because it remains a fact that it is one of the places to relax, awaken my senses, rejuvenate my spirits and feed my soul. Countries such as UK or US are Dreamlands of opportunities for people in search of a better tomorrow.

• When you are in UK /US you have to recognize that you are in the global age. These two countries are globally connected without losing their senses of human cultural identity and locality. They find freedom in relationships, not in autonomy. These countries champion Human Rights and the Rights of Nature and are willing to subject themselves to codes of enforcements.


• The unfortunate comments of behaviors and attitudes of fellow Malawians reveal the fact that we continue to be conditioned by rigidly marked off tribalistic/regional /personal boundaries of jealousies from sweet home; a kind of tight mosaic of personal borders touching up against borders. We continue to assume endless demarcations that separate each other from one another (mchewa, mtumbuka, ras, myao…msena, wachimidzi, mtonga, mphawi, wotchena, mayoo! wotukuka, wotsogola). Foreign-based Malawians, lets make the journey into the Third stage of human consciousness and be exemplary to noble members kumudzi. Kujedana, Tsankho loti amanyada, Msanje lekani, and mabodza yayi pulizi...Many Malawians are going dark, leaving Fellow country members without a clear human direction. Zitikanikatu. We all, having traveled into UK/US, it becomes a beacon of light in a troubled world. It beckons us all Foreign-based Malawians to a new age of inclusivity, diversity, quality of life, sustainability, universal human rights, the rights of nature and peace on earth.  Travel must have broadened our minds, and let’s reflect what we are now …… “Sukulu simkalasi mokha yayi, tonse taphunzira kenakake kunjakuno sure”. Don’t we realize what it means to be living within these capitalists’ states?

FACT2: We are all observers of our own behavior and we develop personal theories to account for it and we better shut up and concentrate on our own lives and behavior. It was better for us to look at the actual aspects of behavior, defining why some Malawians in US/UK are seemingly flourishing, wannabe, prospering, positive, hopeful or confident in character. Life is too short to be wasted on petty issues, jobs, jobs, jobs what about jobs? Tiyeni tizingogwira ntchito basi and make our living. Honestly, Kumudzi nako bwenzi kuli ntchito yosamalila nkhalamba koma anthu ife sitikalamba ngati anzathuwa….refer to HDI. 

OPINION1:

Humanity enjoys pleasures because of happiness, not vice -versa. The stressful living in the western world makes people less happy than in our homes in Malawi. This is not 20:20 hindsight but rather rose-tinted spectacles which selectively forget poverty, disease and primitive technology. People in advanced {and supposedly stressed} western developed societies are generally happier than those in under-developed countries because to them it’s the way you live, not your standard of living that counts most, hence nobody understands anyone. However, as Malawians, let’s try as much as possible to maximize happiness whilst we minimize pain originated from our country. Lets forget mavuto akumudzi…. enanu you are too dumb and resist change to become adaptive to a society.

• REVELATION: Let me add-up something here that the criticism of America is rife here in Europe and world as whole, and it is on the increase. And still most US-based Malawians unfortunately are also condemned by fellow country members due to the alleged weird and wonderful moral attitudes. However, this is founded on a world-misunderstanding that America might develop over extended super power cravings and strive for an American World Order. That is rather stupid and misdirected misunderstanding. The truth is that the US of A has reached a point which the Whole World is also moving towards. Europeans and the rest of the world also fancy standing for a society of values, historically developed values as democratic nations.  I believe that the whole world must as well progress further with the USA on the basis of a discussion of societies embodying democratic values. What ever others might think about the US, but the American Dream has stood the test, in good times and bad. For Europe and the rest of the world to take the Dream it needs optimism, a sense that ones hopes can be fulfilled. Americans are flush with hope and optimism, whilst Europe and the rest of the world are still in the atmosphere of pessimism. Take it or leave it but the Americans are more  willing to assume a collective sense of responsibility for fellow Human beings  and the Earth we all live on. Whilst the Europeans are more willing to assume a sense of personal accountability in their individual dealings in the World. This EU we witness today has become the testing ground for rethinking commerce and politics and re-imagining how people might conduct their lives with one another.
