He said that Malawi needs EDUCATION FOR ALL if it is to develop. Qouted ' The higher ones 's education is more likely one to have substantial influence on the political deveolpment of the nation'

Turning on the University parallel programmes he had this to say ' It is fine as long as it is geared to offer higher education to the able and willing students but if the objective is to make money then there is a problem' He went on further to say if higher education is only accessed by those who have monies; then it means such education and political power will only be for the wealthy. Looking at the parallel programmes, they are a welcome development to the academic circles.Why? It is enabling those that were left out for unknownnreasons into the varsity system to get the education. The govt. should build more universties and subsidize heavily the varsity education and close its ears to the IMF pleas of removing subsidies.
