MALAWIANA

I am so happy to be a member of this group and would love that its existence be beneficial.

In other words in my opinion it ought to be a place where if you were born abroad and did not know anything about Malawi you ought to learn from.Malawiana ought to be a place where you can tell a foreigner to research about our culture and values.

Besides being a poor country there is much we can write about our country that is so unique.

Ladies and Gentlemen, once again i feel that we are under utilising the site in a way some people that are older, those proud of our country and those that  have married foreigners feel ashamed when they read some of the things that appear on this site.

I wish i could go on but i will wait for your negative comments from a few of you as usual before i proceed.

I pray and hope you understand what i am asking for fellow country men.

THIS IS FROM A 40 YEAR OLD MAN.

ACHILU.

Has it occured to you that perhaps you are visiting a wrong website? Is it because you growing older and getting wiser? Or is it because you are one of those self proclaimed older people who are always carrying that heavy bag full of morals? Whatever your situation is, I will give you a free advice: go to one of the search engines i.e google.com and search for Malawi or morals, and lest assured that your search will yield a bunch of results and all your worries will be gone because at least one of those websites will take you to where you belong and everyone will be happy because you are going to save us that big hussle of helping you carry your heavy moral and stupid advice bag. They say life begins at 40 so better start living up to it and let these young people enjoy their lives while they can and when they get older they will also become wiser like you Mr Wiseman. By the way, thats how that name " Wiseman" was "invented" because someone was very wise like you.

I for one enjoy this visiting this site because it caters for my interests and if I am looking for other information concerning Malawi I always know where to go. If all Malawian websites would talk about how beautiful Malawi is or Malawi politics that would be very boring and monotonous. Don't you think?

Another advice: Try Nyasanet.

From your response i am sure SIR SUNGANI you are the wise one.It wont do me or anyone who is interested good to go into details analysing your post. However it would be wise that whatever we post on this site not only be entertaining, nor entertainment for a specific age group, nor do i think the site was meant for young people only.

Do you know that its really a blessing to have a young man come up with such a site.Let me tell you how i know JRC is smart. He says MALAWIANA..................connecting Malawians.........not young Malawians but Malawians.

Next time you want to give your wise responses note that almost everyone who uses a computer knows what a search engine is.And definately i know what Nyasanet is.I just feel this forum is a good way forward because tommorrows Malawi is you that are now enjoying if i may quote you SIR SUNGANI.

I wish i could be discouraged by you but i wont for i know someone out of the 46 people that viewed the original post knows what i am trying to say.

God bless you,SIR WISE REP OF THE YOUTH................SUNGANI.

Frankly, I agree with the first gentleman about sometimes talking about Malawi on this site. Yeah, there are many sites that promote Malawi but then it doesn't mean that we can't talk about Malawi here. It can't just be about some stupid and headless posts that some people post but also some wise and informative stuff about Malawi. I have introduced some non-Malawian friends to this site too and man, do they have to just read bull****? Already one of them was visiting me and we were reading some of the stuff written here and he remarked how downright nasty it is.It's not just Malawians who visit this site and at least they have to read intelligent stuff and not some of the stuff that's already here. There are some people here with great stuff to write and that's the kind of stuff that these people who've never been to Malawi need to read inorder to feel Malawi.Whatever it is about Malawi that someone feels like writing, they have the right to jot it down and it don't matter if they're 12 or 99 years old! I think such a site should be informative as well as entertaining! Thumbs up to the original poster of this message, Chilugamobasi.

I parlty agree with Chilungamobasi and Advocate - PARTLY because this forum is open to different types of subjects - isn't this whats all about? When i joined there were different topics being discussed and the point is to join whichever topic you feel right.

If anyone whats to talk about Malawi, the culture, politics, social life e.t.c they are free to start that topic at whatever time they want to, no one is limiting anyone in anyway...

Most of all we shouldn't forget about FREEDOM OF EXPRESSION and at the same time we shouldn't forget that we are Malawians and respecting ourselves is one of the things we are good at.

Absolutely true, Jade, we can talk about anything and everything on this board but God forbid it's stuff that is offensive and degrading to others!

Chilungamobasi's initial entry (quoted) is rather suggesting that Malawiana.net should be a place where visitors can research about our culture and values. And thats one point I am finding had to swallow because I feel that there are enough Malawian websites covering that but what we need is a unique site where a Malawian should feel free to express oneself without  fear of being checked by moral observers. Trust me thats a reality among youths regardless of originality. It basically all boils down to fun and some humour.

Why in the first place would someone introduce a "foreigner" to this website knowing very well that it contains shameful discussions, as per your indicaction? And why not introduce them to other websites that cater for what you are looking for? Its Just like watching TV, you choose what channels to watch. If you had respected visitors (foreigners) would you switch to playboy channel for them to view? Same thing with internet, you choose what sites to visit. So Mr Wiseman, one more time do mot go banning Channel O just because its not in your taste. The younger generation like to watch Channel O ok. By the way, are you a Malawian MP? If u r then tell your buddies that we want Channel O back.

Mr Chilungamobasi, i understand what you are saying or trying to say and to be fair and honest i have to sadly say you might be expecting too much from this site. Nkhanitu zimakhala pano zina zimakhala zopusa zedi. As you have observed there are protecters of the stautus quo because some people have made this place their playground. Many of the people who curse each other out know each other, i suggest they pick up the phone ( use those free minutes) and just do the cursing in private. Aside the language at times and the issues, i still like the site.

Mutukwana mutopa!
