Yes they do take the late Ethiopian King as the Messiah and Ethiopia as the promised land. Another important figure was Marcus Garvey who predicted the arrival of Salassie , in parity to the Christian Faith , he would be compared to John the Baptist predicting Jesus Christ. It is an interesting faith and just like all the other faiths there are variations of it. You may come across the Nayabhingi.. who could be considered the puritans of the Faith ( you have to grow dreads) or just the casual believer who is attracted more to the faiths respect for nature and peace ( dissed by the nayabhingi as the "baldheads" )

from the look of things, atame is one of them or used to be.But if haile sellasie was born in the line of David why should we say hes automatically a saviour.

First Iam not a rasta but I gat so many friends who are rastas

His first born name was Ras Tafari which means "head creator", but Tafari alone means, "to be feared"
His name was also changed from Ras Tafari to Haile Selassie, which means, Power of the Trinity. As Haile Selassie lived on he continuously fulfilled prophecy from the book of Revelations.

Their is a story about Haile Selassie in his youth, his father & mother was astounded by his vast knowledge and wisdom of and from the bible. They brought in priest to talk with him to ask him where he knew all these things from, Haile Selassie knew books that aren't printed in the bible, like the 8th, 9th & 10th books of Moses,

At one time their were two priests talking to Tafari, who had claimed he talks to animals and the wild beasts in the jungles of Ethiopia, One of the priests asked Tafari to draw one of these animals, so Tafari requested for crayons and a piece of paper and began to draw it formed into a dove of bright multi-colors and before the priest could question Tafari about the bird on the page he was dumbfounded when he saw it arise off the paper and fly through the window, the two priests hysterically left the palace and never returned.

Ethiopian history says that Kings Solomon of Israel and Queen Sheba of Ehtopia had a son Menelik. He was given direction to take the Ark of the Covenant which is a Jewish and Christian symbol of "God With Us". Haile Selassie is said to be of this bloodline and to Rastafarians the fulfillment of Biblical prophecy.

One of the questions one may ask is How does the sacrifice of Christ fit with the three-in-one god? How did Jesus extricate Himself from the Father and the Holy Spirit to die as Savior?

I like you,not becoz of your explanation but the way you understand the word.
In short when we look at the trio they are all in spirirt and it was necessary for Jesus to come as human so thet at least pipo (you and me inclusive) could understand him better.Unfortunately the same pipo crucified him and most unfortunately the leaders of churches thus why most dirty sins are commited by leaders upto day.
