Trapped?

I have a question here, do you think some of us Malawians are trapped in this country? You know, not wanting to leave the US because if we do we might not be able to come back in. Which really isnt all that bad if most of your family are here and you are comfortable. But do you think its right to settle for a dead end job ( and live just above the poverty line - and in debt ) and blunt the sharpness of stark reality with Heinekens day after day or is it better to go back home ( yes and maybe dance to the music - mpaka kutuwa ) ?

Your thoughts on this subject are welcome , what would you do if you were in the above situation?

I maybe shaking a hornets nest here, but im not talking about anyone ( to all those whose feet fits the shoe ) . Keep it coherent and Chonde Osatukwana.

Its my life and I can do whatever I wanna do with it. And In the first place I don't remember consulting you or your grandpa when I was making the decision to come here. I made an educated decision knowing exactly what I was getting myself into and what I wanted in life. I could list what I have achieved in my short life and have not achieved but thats not your business.

If you go back toMalawi right now you will see how its flooded with other nationalities (Africans, Asians, Americans, Europeans and  elsewhere) and the same thing is  evident in almost all countries. Its a global village, right?  So give me a break and pack your bags and go home.

When i put the question forward i was not talking about you or anyone specifically, i was talking about a situation , a supposedly trapped situation. Your response was so personal ( yet still informative - i did not know about the influx of foreigners back home ) that i almost made assumptions about YOUR sitaution ( but i held back since i do not know you ) and no i do not need to know about your conquests and shortcomings.

At least i got your position on the issue which i think is  - for you , you still have more to achieve in this country. I salute your previous achievements and wish you the best in your quest to achieve more.

I dont know you either. I was speaking for myself  hence my previous reply was in a subjective form. I will let the others speak for themselves or theyshould forever hold their peace. Thanks all the same for bringing up the subject

I do not understand why being "trapped" in the West is such a bad thing. There is nothing wrong with relocating to a different part of the world, its all a part of life. Take the U.S. for example, it is filled with immigrants. You have people with Irish roots, British roots, Italian roots, African roots(even though some didn't choose to come here). All these people came over in pursuit of greater things.

Instead of judging and putting each other down we should learn to respect the fact that we all came here for different reasons and we all had our own goals. Some plan on settling down here and some plan on going home. The point I'm trying to make is that everyone can make their own choices. Whats right for me might not be right for someone else.

Thanks for your input, i see the different angle now. Trapped was a wrong word here. Using the word trapped assumes that one is in the states against his/her will. You see this is what a forum is for, different views can be eye opening.
