abale, akuti apanga lift ban yokagulitsa chimanga kunja kwa malawi ataona ma estimates a kukolola kwa chakachino. chodabwista ndi chokuti, mungapange decision kuchokela pa ma estimates? what happens if there was a miscalculation? are we not counting our eggs before they hatch?
business people who will be issued permits to export the grain have been refused their request to sell it at a higher price. what was the basis of the refusal? also under what criteria are they issuing the permits, mwina tingakazisake!
I am sure that whoever was making the decision is experienced and knowledgeable enough to make good estimates. Even at an individual level, by the end of February, every farmer knows how well he has done and how much mondokwa he can afford to consume without jeopardising the final harvest. Rather than wait any longer, it is better to announce early enough to allow businessmen to make their plans. Malawi needs to export the maize chaka chino otherwise many people will not be motivated to farm again next year if they are not able sell the excess maize they will have this year.
Amalawi, let's thank God for the good rains this year.
for the rains let us be thankful and pray for the same next year. as for exploitation and abuse of the system let us hope there is little, too many suprises in store. its a jungle out there
Can we go back to primary school......... demand and supply.Look here I think the govnmt is right here they know we are to have bumper harvest while already traders are hoarding stocks of maize without demand while our neighbour (mozambique) is in need of the maize.
So let the traders export and create another market for this year otherwise the farmers will sell the crop at K2 /kg.what we need to advise the govmnt is to protect the admarc maize because we may see that maize going to traders.

We can say 'what if' about so many things, but we still plan for the future based on the likelihood of certain events. At the moment it is likely that Malawi will have a bumber maize harvest, so there is nothing wrong with making the decision now.
chikupangikachi ndi chibwana cha nchombo lende, whats the rush for, can't we wait until the harvest? let us wait and see as events unfold. i will not be suprised to see us buying the same maize at horrendous prices.

Let the maize be sold. I think it makes sense for the maize to be sold than be left to rot! After all it may fetch a better price now than later when maize shall be so much in abundance (at least according to the forecasts)
An'dyomba Humbe, mukuyendera iti? Zoona chimanga chigulitsidwe. Can we not learn from past events? Ngatichimanga sichigulitsidwa does it mean chivunda? Muli gulu la a geni atapange makobidi wa? Here is Mikhe's prediction: We are going to buy that maize back at a higher price next year! And guess who makes a killing out of it? Anali limodzi amewa!
anthu aja alimba mtima, akuti agulista 80,000 tonnes ya chimanga despite other areas underproducing the grain. the question still remains, why the rush? is there something to be lost if we waited till the harvest?
what measures have they put in place to ensure that only 80,000 tonnes of maize are exported since the country has a number of exit points? do we have a system in place that will close the tap when the figure has been reached?
my guess is, the set up is wide open to exploitation and we are going to export more than we are supposedto! tough times lie ahead for the poor village man.
Zinthu zomvesta chisoni kwa amikhe, what happens if we have some ill fate as a nation? Are we putting that in to account? Wina wake akufuna chimanga badly (it might be Zimbabwe at a guess) pachipanda apo wina azisaka osatimasewela. Still the consequense is imminent! Less maize for Malawi.
