I will never understand Malawian politics. He claims to be good but he is hindering developments. I mean just one TV isn’t that a shame? Maybe he fear that Muluzi as his rival, with his own TV will cost him his Presidency. So he thought that the best way to keep away this “campaign” tool is by sabotaging his MACRA homeboys! Bingu amandiseketsa nthawi zina.

Muluzi is opening Joy TV and the only thing which is stopping him is issuing of a licence by Malawi Communications Regulatory Authority. It is alleged that Bingu called all the officials from MACRA. One doesn’t need to be told what was transpiring there since all the officials are from Thyolo. Some say Muluzi did the very same thing during his term and now it is happening to him. I guess Bingu fears that this TV will be used for campaign during the next Elections, and am telling you this can be pretty bad for DDP!

What goes around comes around so they say!!At least it will teach Muluzi one or two lessons about "abuse"of power, this is what happens to visionless, myopic and "wamuyaya"mentality people. If he had changed the rules during his time sakanakhala ndi mavuto akukumana nawo lero wa.Again this might happen to Bingu when he leaves office unless of course he changes the rules governing the airwaves in the country, wina alira!!

I think we are retrogressing going that way its all these recycled politicians that have all these "tit for tat" business, Muluzi will be the last one to laugh out loud. I would say let those who can run the media and whatsoever do it, Muluzi is feeling the pinch yes, am also feeling it bcoz am bored to the bone with all those presidential diaries on TVM.
Look at his Joy radio its doing a good job i can bet you that within the next 2 years its going to be a force to reckon with. Now how many political programmes that are pro Muluzi do they run? Close to nil just when the need arises (after all its his)
Nde awa akanangowasiya kuti apange zawo zoyenela ma licence and let them roll.
Look at this, the Mutharika's might live to regret some of their actions
Its high time our leaders realised that in politics what goes around comes around and Muluzi is now getting the same treatment he meted out on other people. In a country like Malawi, control of the airwaves(radio mainly and TV now) is vital to all politicians and that is why they have been reluctant to change the statutes governing this.Under pressure from donors over the gvernments control of the airwaves, the Muluzi government established MACRA because they still did not want to let anyone especially the opposition own a radio station.Remember this was the time when rumours were widespread that the MCP wanted to establish its own radio station. The reason for the establishment of MACRA was to control such things and they did well because the only people who got licences then were either pro-UDF(Harry Thomsons Power 101 or Alauddin Osmans Capital FM) or church organisations(ABC in Lilongwe) with limited coverage. As said this was visionless and myopic and now Bingu has just taken advantage of that and is sitting "pretty"as he can turn around and say,I "found" these rules but then they might "haunt"him as well in future.
I have always believed that some of these outdated laws need to be changed to suit with the changes that are happening in and around the country.Look at the Madonna adoption saga, look at the Protected names and emblems act, look at the Women and Child Support act and look at the Legal education act,all these need to be changed as they are outdated, oldfashioned and do not conform with the needs of today.
Are you aware that under the current statutes,if you got a woman/girl pregnant in Malawi and you did not want to marry her,she is only entitled to MK50 a month for support? It was a lot of money then when the act was being put in place but what is that now?Are you also aware that under the Protected names and emblems act,you can go to prison for saying the President is stupid? How then can that be when the constitution gives us the right to free expression and the right to free speech?
There my dear bro is where I say the statutes need to be changed and that includes the MACRA act because it is meant to suppress Press freedom,Bingu is just a beneficiary of Muluzis myopic rule and till he decides to change the rules, dont blame him, thats politics for sure!

Muluzi is reaping what he sowed. They will surely give him the licence koma atamuvinitsa kaye and definitely with harsh conditions. Kampeni ndi imene akuyiopa Bingu! What worries me though is that Bingu is making a repetition of the very same bad things which Muluzi did. Chinyengo chimene iyeyo anabwera kuzathetsa ndi chiti? Azitenge bwino.
