I understand Lucius Banda is still in prison after allegedly being found guilty of folging a certificate. And Clive Macholowe is back in prison........ If Bakili or Alidzi were in power would this have happened? I know we shouldn't condone crime but doesn't it have scales? If we were to search the whole nation then how many Lucius Bandas would be in prison? Some country-folk are so bitter with the way Bingu is running the country..........to hear of a coup wont be a surprise. And to think an economist would improve the nation......
But Clive is not a political prisoner, he was incarcerated for robbery. As for Lucius Banda, I have no idea. But you forget that he got caught. I know if you search the country you'll find a lot of people that are guilty of the same crime. Same as a lot of other crimes and people. There are criminals free everywhere.
Lucius Banda's crime was petty compared to what other higher ministers were guilty of and left scot free. The point is that Lucius stood up to Bingu, hence all the investigations, case and arrest! If Lucius had been a dim wit and asked 'how high' every time Bingu ordered him to jump, the arrest wouldn't have taken place.
There are whispers of unrest right now and i believe the majority find the present leadership lacking somewhat so the coup is a way of looking ahead. Just hope it wont happen when B is visiting some other country!!!
Why aren't you more offended by the fact that a high school failure won, through deceit, the power to vote on our laws & and national budget? Do you even know what a coup is? That an African, of all people, would entertain the idea beggars belief. So you'd find a military dictatorship (yes, that's what you get after coups) formed in the name of the conviction of a petty criminal more legitimate?

My sentiments exactly. Its bad enough that the guy cheated his way into office. Stand up to Bingu? for what? The verdict was just, despite what other Ministers have supposedly gotten away with. See, elected officials should be treated with much higher regard as they are entrusted to handle the nation's buisness. In the way a court would view a person wearing the cap of a buisness man differently from a typical customer, say in a dispute over a binding agreement, so should it handle its officials in similar cases of misconduct.
I agree with youth above, coz how can we get mad and say they did Lusious wrong when he is not even fit for the Job. No matter who you are, if you have been to College or University your state of mind is way beyond that of a high school grad, you make (atleast the majority of times ) a more educated guess when you are stuck on an important issue. As for somebody that didnt even finish Highschool, i believe that you should not get a chance to run for any government position because as soon as you get that position your ignorance or uneducated mind will not allow you to think for others, but rather you will think of ways to better yourself instead of the masses. Basically i think you should have atleast a basic qualification ( such as a secondary certificate) to run for any government position or else you run into people like those that have previously ran the country (apart from Kamuzu because we were all afriad of his punk behind). There is a reason why they say ; Eduacation is key Infact i think we should investigate all the government officials in malawi and throwout all the uneducate ones because how do we expect uneducated people to talk with educated leaders (that usually get us played) and notice that we are being set up for future troubles. Fiiiirrrreeeee buuuuurrrnnninnnggg NON - Stop Blessed love............ Lets Get it together = One God ... One Aim .... One Destiny....

I absolutely agree with you two. I'm sure his conviction was political. In that level of power it always is. It doesn't mean he didn't commit the crime.

Am not going to be afronted by your insinuations cos that's gonna satisfy somebody. Right, Am not supporting Lucius or other offenders......i've actualy clearly stated that i am not for crime. My point was on Bingu's concentration on petty issues which leaves him depleting the country's trust on his leadership as he is supposed to be very 'educated' and more'fitting' to rule with his head and not his emotions. As an economist, what improvements has he brought forward? Or should we give him ten yrs before he proves himself?
Bakili wasn't educated but the country was much better off than now. So you'd rather have an educated fool lead you astray because of his papers than have the opposite who has common sense??? You can bite my head off and say Lucius B this and that but my point isnt on Lucius cos he wasnt a prsident nor a vice.....but rather on the poor leadership we are trying so much to justify. Meaning of coup???? Damn!!!!! If only you knew!!!! But then you wouldn't throw slime as well if you did!!!
Am in agreement to them other postings but am yet to see the right president of Malawi.
Lucius was using the law to impeach Bingu unfortunatelly he did not take care of his own end . In a democracy you fight using laws. Whether these ministers have broken the law still hangs on a balance of whether they are proven guilty or not.
To you Bingu cannot be the better president for malawi. Unfortunatelly that is your opinion. As a leader part of the group will like you all that matters is how big is this group comparing to that doesnt like you.
Best leader for Malawi lies in everyone of us. We should always ask what we can do for our country and not what our country can do for us.
we all know that a coup is the worst thing for Nyasaland.
My views on political Malawi are too nuanced to put forward here without getting mired in fruitless circular debate. I'll park those for now. However, whether I ultimately share your views (more or less) or not, it would have been easier to compare notes if you weren't biased to point of blatant vested interest, YTP.
Well it's too bad if i came out commending someone but i believe that given the right candidate, who surpassess these previous three, then for real am gonna shut up. Of-course no-one is perfect but there are some things one can control......with or without powers to exploit.
Sounding biased? Looks like malawi goes from bad to worse in it's choice for presidents and the evidence is there since the birth of multiparty. Yea, am gonna stop here as well cos i might stir those memories best left alone.
Focusing on what we can do for our country, huh? Interesting.......and.......sounds.... ok.
Bingu has made significant accomplishments during his term in office. A few comparisons have been made about BIngu and Bakili, to that extent, some are even of the opinion that the nation was better off under the UDF. That the politcal climate is getting worse and worse. But personally I'm hopeful for the future. Malawi needs a party that is progressive and that is what we are getting from DPP. BIngu's term in office seems to promise a light at the end of the tunnel. For anyone who is interested, give yourself the independent assignment to read up on the state of the current national debt, read up on the increase in AID and international relief efforts. If the Madonna story teaches anything, its that the global community are increasingly getting involved. Surely all this cannot be attributed to one administration, but I think Bingu's efforts should not be overlooked. I personally own a copy of the budget, and I can tell you, the boy has plans.
Good ridance he might be a good public figure but his lack of education exposed him way too far.
Abu why do i sense that you toe on the "MCHAWA" line too far ?
why did you not bark when all the others were being fired? i dont remember you complaining when Lucius got arrested nor atcheya demanding immediate release of Chilumpha when the case is in court but this. this Mchawa friend of yours messed up the subsidy proggrame by having to do it his own way without consulting the stajeholders for that alone you can get a boot, Bingu at least has oimpressed me for firing the second "kaunjika" selling guy from his lot first it was zikhale you know the way some kaunjika guys behave.
Bingisa do take this personal. I dont get your stajeholder issue. and firing someone is not something to be oimpressed about. That is the difference between you and i, you dont choose a good president according to his ethnic group. we voted for Bingu remember? its not that we dont like him, we trusted him and he betrayed us. ife tsankho lanulo tilibe. i mean what if we (yao) all decide not to vote Salima, Mangochi, Machinga, Zomba, Bulantaya, Chiladzulu, Mulanje, Dedza, Santhe in Kasungu,. Balaka, (phiri la njuzi, Chigwirizano, Chinsapo in Lilongwe), Karonga. Zinthu sizingasokonekele? Kodi a chawafe mutizonda mpaka liti, azanufe tikupita patsogolo, inu mukulimbana ndikukoka mchila wathu.

Mchawa
For starters BingiZa is spelled with a Z not S (I know u confuse btwn Soweto and Zoweto in RSA)
I take nothing personal i just say them as they are, i enjoyed when he was fired. You are taking this firing way too far it has nothing to do with the personallities its the incapabilities of that chawa individual that got himself fired. Are you saying that bcoz bingu fired one chawa you want to gang up and frustrate him? Now i can see why Bingu says there are some UDF spies in his DPP its people like you who would want to toe a line without knowing where its leading you to.
With your kind of thinking would bingu start to believe that all chawas are close knit hence cant get away from atcheya? Man i thought you were somebody who would take issues as they are not try to twist and present it in your own crooked mind way.
That reminds me in 99 when i was in Mzuzu after the elections a few chawas went too far to provoke those in that region and a minor i repeat minor incident happened, what was the reaction mosques have burnt all over the northern region and we have been told to pack up and go yet it was a ploy within the achawa group to find a way of repatriating to their original homes free of charge.
You getting ahead where? tell me where and give concrete examples you want to start comparing madrass and secular education, building a mosque and wasting half your time there i wouldnt call this kupita patsogolo sorry
Lets not get this too far issues to be tackled should be why he was fired and stuff not this achawa and yao thing (you already had a similar fracas with ngwazi i wouldnt want to start the same hocus pocus)

Bingisa, am Mchawa that’s why I call you Bingisa, Zoweto respectively. Correct yourself before you correct others “stajeholder”” oimpressed” how did you miss that one? You don’t even know a piece of me and how would you tell that am not going anywhere. I used to eat Dowa Dowa and now am eating prawns isn’t that a change. If I will have the capabilities to build a Mosque and starting up a Madressah then I will say Sky is the limit.what is kupita patsogolo to you? At least Ngwazi was making sensible arguments. I also take it that you don’t know anything about 99 election aftermaths.

I was there i know what am talking about when i say they wanted a free ride.
I dont know who you are and i wont die for that, but tell me is that what you call kutukuka by moving from dowa dowa (watever it is) to prawns?
Build more madressahs so that you can brainwash your fellows with that poison from the middle east and become imams (watever you call them). Keep on counting those beads in your hands and wait for the amwenyes to bring you leftover prawns instead of your dowa dowa
