Francois, both parents can be HIV + but the baby born HIV-. That is why here in the US pregnant mothers have to be tested for HIV and also when the baby is born they do the same if the mother was found positive cos some babies can be born without it. But also at the same time the child can later on get affected by the mother with continued breastfeeding (hence the need to test the mother) and if this is the case breastfeeding is discouraged. I hope I've been able to explain a little to you.

I am in London, and i am reading the sun news paper dated 18/10/2006. Front page says (on top of Davie's picture) MADONNA 'I am helping one child escape life of poverty'. Is this not mocking the Malawi nation? Does Madonna feed all the people of Malawi? If Mr Banda is poor, it doesnt mean that all village people are poor.Banda is just a greed man who just want to please his new wife.You dont need to be grown up in a white family to become rich, because there are also poor people here , i mean whites who also sleep in the streets.Madonna is doing a good thing but she must not boost by saying that she is helping poor Malawi child.

Have you asked yourself if it matters whether one Yohane Banda is hiv - or + to you? How does it affect you??? Would it have mattered if they'd said the mother died of a heart attack?? Why the stigma pple? My bad if am wrong on the perception.

 I am ashamed that you are a Malawian or African (if you are one) How if you are educated and know what's going on in Malawi and the whole of the subsaharan region that you would speak and think like this. I fear for the poor orphans of Africa. Yes i know some people do adopt kids for the wrong reasons but how would Madonna do that? Almost her every move is splashed in the media for all of us including you to see? now tell me don't you think if she was promoting slavery we would know? I feel so sad when people like you and the Human rights group of Malawi want to turn something so precious, ugly. you and those that think like you are not thinking about the children of Africa. You talk and think like you do, while you are in a warm house, eating 3 sometimes 10 meals a day, opportunity to go the hospital when you are sick. you even have time and the means to sit down and write such heartless things. and where does little David and the rest of the kids like him end up? dying of hunger, disease, cold,.....................
