My 2 month stay in Blantyre starting Jan '95 were some of my most memorable. Mount Sochi hotel was a great place to stay. And my evenings at Nandus chicken amongst the few other places and my walks around the city center in the evenings with my colleagues. I also travelled to the countryside through the picturesque landscapes filled with tea plantations. My Malawian colleagues couldn't have enough of my west african accent and I thought they spoke funny in return. I was facinated by the apparent rule of law compared to my west african experience. I also noted that TV hadn't arrived yet save for those of us that called mont soche hotel and others home during our brief stay. My heart breaks to learn that things have gone south a little bit since then. I am eager to hear some good news. Any one here from Blantyre who knows Patrick kolongo (Devpt of Malawian Traders trust- DEMATT), Jane Ngumuya(her bro is a musician she said), magaret Kokha (Demmat)- to name a few of the many nice people I met in Blantyre. I can't believe 11 yrs have gone by already.
