There's something frightfully patronising about these "good intentioned" celeb endorsed trips to developing countries.
Call me cynical but the photo-ops, staged interviews juxtaposed with playing with black kids etc does actually re-enforce the stereotypes of hungry Africans in need of white western salvation. It is primarily another form of exploitation. The semantics really stress the idea that these Africans are different, almost sub-human. We never hear their side of the story (that's not important). What's important is the uber-liberal, Mcgreggor gets to show what compassionate white man is about, while we're still being screwed by higher forces... Government/multinational led lobbying to keep black people poor and subdued.
