Damn malawians why are we so slow like this, I only got one thing to say Exposure, exposure, Exposure like kamuzu said a while ago kuphunzira si school yokha komanso kuyenda. why didn't they think of this a while ago be elections? I got an answer to that Pride and being greedy everyone wants to be THE President. If we want a better malawi everybody who has been involved in politics before needs to retire yes retire all those famous for nothing people, the Tembos Mpinganjira, malewezi, Gwanda, chihana everybody, all of them kumoto. we need new people with new and better ideas.
here is the article from Nation Online.
MCP chosen to lead Opposition by: Pilirani Semu-Banda, 5/26/2004, 6:38:23 PM
All opposition parties in the country have agreed to work together in and outside Parliament under the leadership of MCP president John Tembo. In an exclusive interview with Nation Online on Wednesday, Tembo said he met Mgwirizano Coalition president Gwanda Chakuamba and his running mate Aleke Banda plus NDA president Brown Mpinganjira who all agreed to work together against UDF. “I have consulted with other parties in the opposition, NDA for instance, President BJ {Brown Mpinganjira} and those who are in the coalition led by Gwanda Chakuamba. We will be working together. If we are a vibrant opposition, there are many things we can do together which I can’t tell you now,” said Tembo. And in a written statement, Tembo said the agreement was made on Tuesday in which they resolved to work together and ensure checks and balances in all operations of government. “This resolution is without prejudice to the action in the High Court of Malawi challenging the presidential election result,” said Tembo. He said the meeting among the opposition leaders also “resolved and pledged to welcome independent members of Parliament who are willing to work with the opposition in Parliament”. Aleke Banda confirmed the development, saying the opposition has already started coordinating efforts outside Parliament, mounting legal challenges in the High Court. “The press statement that Honourable Tembo has written confirms it all,” said Banda. NDA newly appointed national chairman Harry Thomson confirmed the agreement saying it was done on Tuesday night by Tembo, Chakuamba, Banda and Mpinganjira. “Yes, we will work with fellow opposition parties who are of like minds to ourselves,” said Thomson. UDF secretary general Kennedy Makwangwala refused to comment on whether UDF feels threatened with the agreement, saying he is not mandated to speak on “such matters”. “Ask either Honourable {Ken} Lipenga or Honourable {Mary} Kaphwereza-Banda. Some of us are not supposed to speak on such issues,” said Makwangwala.
What difference will that make?!They thought being greedy will make them presidents, they could hav done that b4 the elections.Maybe their coalition will do wonders in parliament, lets just wait and see!!
It is never too late for a comeback. Infact now it is looking good. Since people could not decide on who to choose between the opposition it works our right that these men will have so much influence. May be they can use it in their favour, lets see how the UDF will react now that even though they have the president that still can't run the country. That means the opposition has about 100 seats in the parliment. It will be hard to get away with so much. Well, I hope it works out. God is on our side
That really is the truth. Zam'mbuyo mwa alendodi. Yeah there may still be time for a bit of change but there should have done that before the elections. Bwenzi pano tikukamba zina but as all y'all said it was greed that took 'em over so losing the elections knocked some sense into them. I just hope the results will be good.
Look at all the party presidents and honestly tell me if you really believe that either of them is there for the main reason of helping the country develop. What I think is that all of them in their hearts of hearts all they are thinking is either "how can I enrich myself like Muluzi did?" or "I cant believe I lost the opportunity to make myself rich" . And of course they are also thinking of how they can/could develop Malawi. But you and me know that that comes secondary on their agenda of agendas.
What the opposition should know is that they shouldn't just oppose for the sake of it because at the end of the day it will be the common man on the street who will suffer. While the government should learn from their past mistakes and Malawi a better place to live once again.
....................
Thats my opinion and I am sure you also have yours.
But we are all talking like the "opposition" lost the elections. From what I have heard, they didn't lose -- rather, UDF cheated.
Unfortunately, even if they have challenged the elections in court, most of those judges are in someone's pocket. No one makes decisions based on truth or the law anymore. It's all about personal affiliations. I still don't want to give up on beautiful Malawi, but sometimes it gets so frustrating I could kick them all in the tush.
For those with relatives in the high places, could you please instill in them that it is NOT about them but rather FOR THE GOOD OF MALAWI. Somebody please...
