FYI - I got this in the mail .... We are living in interesting times!
> >> >> >> >>Hi everyone, I know most people have been following this on the news,
FYI, The bill passed 239-182 on Friday, in Congress, largely along party lines …. (Democrats fought against this). It will be debated in Senate in Feb. 2006 some of the changes are due to go in affect as early as Oct. 2006. Attached is a short version (ms word) and full version (pdf) of the bill for those interested. Below are some highlights.
It will Deny citizenship to those babies born in this country if their parents don't have the papers to prove they are in this country legally
It makes criminals out of spouses, employers, churches and organizations that help immigrants by broadening the definition of smuggling. Essentially anyone that helps, encourages, advises, comments on, transports, lives with, houses and illegal immigrant will be faced with criminal penalties.
Multiple DUI’s (Driving under the Influence) would be a reason for deportation.
Businesses starting in 2008 would have to call a government hotline to verify the Social Security number of all new hires or face fines of up to $25,000 per violation. By 2012 they would have to reverify the identities of all employees.
Businesses will also have to verify immigration status thru the govt.
Being out of status would be a Federal criminal crime. Currently, entering the country illegally is a felony, but being in the United States illegally is a civil offense.
It would criminalize as many as 11 million illegal immigrants, including 3 million children – being out of status would mean it was a criminal not civil immigration offense – all people out of status would be in the same rank as murderers – hence making it against the law to ever legalize any ‘out of status’ immigrants already here or there children. Children will have to produce legal documents at schools.
Local police in 29 counties will be paid extra if they find illegal people; they will be able to detain them and won’t have to wait on Homeland Security.
>Please fwd this to many people you know, particularly those that will benefit from the information, so that >they can make better informed decisions in future. There are many groups currently fighting against this >bill but these days you never know. It took them 2 days to pass this on Friday. In feb, it may take 2 days >as well for this to go through ! > > >
That is sooo going to bankrupet WalMart and so many other industries in the US. America's survival relies on the everyready influx of cheap labour. They might as well outsource everything...
well its time other countries started the same measures, give them a taste of their own medicine.those rules are made to target people from poor countries who are only trying to make a better life for themselves and their families.
The funny thing is that they get the best homes and jobs in our countries while when we come here they make us feel like they have done us a favour by letting us in.Most of us just want to come get some education save some dough and get back home, is that too much to ask for?
It looks like they will have the guest worker program for Mexicans to legalise them ( all other Lationos , they dont seem to care about - Puetor Rico is a US territory so there good) - but this would mean that the Mexican are taken care of.. and will be lega.. so this leaves the bill to target the illegal people that are non-mexican that are middle class .... people in offices, Walmart etc... are targeted.. Most of the immigrants that fall in this category are African and Asian .. the New face of AMerican immigrants...the Europeans taht have been coming for yrs, inlcuding Russians up to the 1980s, by now have their papers... they are coming after, Asians and African that are not doing manul labor by the looks of it... this would free up jobs for the American middle class and will make Bush happy b/c unemployment is his goal...!
It will also greatly affect the technology world. Americans have always depended on the research and development of new technologies carried out by these "new" immigrants.
