i am with men, don't even say indiana, say south bend.... they are all in south bend and they like to keep up with each other's business....just like they did in Dowa. now that some of them moved to atlanta.... they are all following, its gees.... do you own thing, this is the united states..... free of choice

Why Indiana? Well, let me ask you, why not Indiana? Do you know of China town, Little Italy etc? If you do then you wouldnt have been asking such a self explanatory question. If you have not noticed, no matter where you go, people with the same affiliations, backgrounds, interests etc always stick together. And there is nothing wrong with that. Why do you have ghettos in America full of black people? Does it mean that they dont want to live better? Neighborhoods, zipcodes, towns etc are segmented and segregated according to social classes, cultural norms etc. This does not mean that you can not live in Hollywood coz you do not belong to that class but if you did you might not like it because they might not accept you for who you are. Social and cultural classification goes back to ancient times. Remember Lords and Plebians from history class?

A easy and childproof example would also be the Indian community in Malawi. Why do most of them Live in Area 2/9 in Lilongwe and Mpingwe in Blantyre?

At your age I would expect that you should have known about realities of life by now but unfortunately, it seems like you are still living in wonderland.

You made good sence logically, but why did you even leave Malawi then? All the examples you gave (ghettos) are of ignorant uneducated people who would rather live confortambly omong themselves. They are afraid of reaching out and getting to know other cultures and peoples.

Observer, I think you want a better life for yourself and part of that demands leaving your confort zone, weather in South Bend or in compton....if civilization is to proceed without conflict, people have to stop thinking in classes and isolation....the only way to understand other people is to live with them....and I bet for those Malawians in America right now, still don't understand a normal black american and how they think because the've never experienced their type of life. Yes people in the ghetto want a good life, but how are they going to get it if they stay with their own kind...they need to get with other people to get the knowledge or education...

Punani, ALL my examples ARE NOT about ghettos. The examples which I gave are not collectively exhaustive as such do not take them literally. Rather, they are just a few of an infinite number. I could as well given Little Havana in Miami as an example. Rather than sticking to the examples, I suggest you try to grasp the general concept of my argument which is neither about ghettos nor is it about Chinatown e.t.c but rather it is trying to explain social classes, cultural norms, status, racial and ethnic background as well as economic factors as a basis for community affiliations as well as demographic segmentation patterns.

You are kidding me men.... I bet you yourself have never been to the USA and let alone South Bend. I'll forgive you for saying the above quotation because you probably don't know what you are talking about and you are basing your argument on what you think and not the reality. What about paying South Bend a visit and see for yourself and may be you' ll have a different opinion? Its not like these Malawians you talking about live in one or two apartment complex. They are well scattered and its only when there is something going on that they come together. And when they say South Bend they don't necessary mean that they live in South Bend, its just a generic term referring to all the surrounding areas of South Bend and that includes some parts of Michigan. There are more advantages than disadvantages when people of the same background live close to each other, I can think of a hundred reasons....

With all due respect, I am grasping your general concept, which is only discussing about the way society is now. I am discussing about the positive influence and the resulting influence these kind of societies have on all of us. Yes these are the trends, but are they good for man kind? I have no problem with Indiana, South Bend (The fighting Irish).....but let's look forward and not just for today and tomorrow.....let's take that trend society is used to another level
