Making Malawi a better Place

Lets see, what should be done to make Malawi a better Place? What is required to improve the livelihood of people.

Its throught communication and action that can change things.

Much the fact I am young things are not improving at all may be later. We try to work extra hard but the rewards are not meeting the needs and wants hence no life improvement at all.

I know patriotic Malaawians will take this seriously.

First get rid of all the old politicians.   We need educated young people with different ideas.  Without that i think our future is doomed. The problems that Malawi is facing now is thanks to the policies that were made yesterday( like a decade ago).  The focus should be of tomorrow.  Better education for our children is a must because the future of malawi lies in them.

I've read hundreds of topics on this issue and have come to realize that the meaning of the word education needs to be given much more clarity. I think it needs to be used in a much less broader sense. What do we mean by "education"? do we give them all certificates? do we teach them the atomic theory and expect them to be convinced that the rains will come next season? I'm sorry countrymen, but there is no application for that knowledge given the situation our beloved Malawi is in. There are no results. For this reason I remain a critic of the post secondary education system in Malawi and also the ideology that education will come to our rescue.

Education whether we like it or not is the key to success.  There are many things that i see wrong with the malawian education system.  The curriculum for example what and how are they teaching.  Some of the stuff that children are learning are they worth knowing even if they will never do anything with it.  for example one can debate whether it is necessary to be taught when Dr David livingstone was born.  Emphasis is put on tests.  They concentrate on testing and comparing not on learning and teaching.  Some teachers even just come into the classroom and write endless notes on the board instead of trying to get the students know what they are learning and how it relates to their life.  The students go home and memorise these notes without understanding what they are studying just to pass exams.  Some go through past exam papers and memorise the questions and answers knowing that the same questions will appear in the exams.  The biggest poblem is language.  Pupils get out of primary school with very little english.  How can one expect these children to understand what they are being taught at secondary level if its taught in a language that they are not familiar with.  Most secondary students are not able to speak english propely how can they express their opinions in a classroom if they cant speak the language properly.  Overcrouding is olso a big problem so the teacher wont know where the weakness of some of the students lie.  I think the system has lost touch with the aim of education which is to give people knowledge which will help them to understand the world and how it works and how certain things lead to another in turn they will be able to make good decisions on their own. To train people in different skills so that they can serve their country.

I think political will has also to play a role in Making Malawi a better place aside education.I sympanthyse on the Political situation now it getting worse and I dont think we are going ahead of life at the pace we are moving. If you take for instance the situation as of current the politicians instead of discusing issues that can help Malawi to grow they are busy talking politics in Paliament.

With this trend as you know at the moment done finding project are the only way forward to development because they are the catalists to development and at the same time you can develop without any capital at all.

Malawi as of now I can regard it as a very slow country but can move faster if theres investment in new technology.

But we still have Hope.
