"Friends, Malawians, Countrymen and Countrywomen, lend me your ears; I have a bone to pick with all you all.

There has been a lot of diarrhoea of the mouth and mud slapping around here. What's up Did your mothers drop you when you were kids or what? Whats up with this bad vibes! Lets clear the dust and start a fresh! Let talk about the July 6th Parties that are coming up! ATL  INDY?:Decision, decision.

What is wrong with us Malawians? Are we ashemed of our beloved country? Now, I have been to alot of parties African, American, Chinese, European etc....they all rock their music till the wheels fall off..but not Malawian parties. We play Hip-hop. If I want to listern to Hip-hop or R&B , I can go to any local club in my town...Our friends dress in attires from their countries and they are proud to tell everyone, with a smile that the music or the attire came from their country.. When I see pictures of Malawian parties everybody is dressed like YOs! I am not going to mention any names but you know who you are! Check this out, I will be at the 6th July party dressed in an African attire made in Malawi, thread in Malawi with cotton from Malawi and taylored by my Malawian sister who owns a Malawian shop called KASADUZI enterprise in Malawi, Lilongwe..and I want to listern to Malawian music..with a Carlsberg in my hand... If you want me to hook you up with the attires let me know...and I am out, with my Malawian self...

Zuze Chilombo Chapamudzi!

What's up to my Malawian Bad Boys Crew Samora, Khibo, Nabarro and Whoodin

What I choose to wear is my business. If back in Africa I didn't wear the so call " African Attire" then why should I start wearing them here. I will not pretend to like what I dont. Just like music I also have a choice to listen to what I like. I am not saying that I dont like Malawian music but I feel that some people shouldn't force other people to think, dress or listen to what they like. It's becoming a global village after all.

Mamacita, You seem to get real personal with me? Whats up, girl?? Whats your name? Do you know me or what...whatever it is I didn't do it. Now that we poured out some liquor. What do you want to talk about that is real, and please don't put us to sleep.

Sungani, I must have struck a live wire on you. You came out like I was talking about you. I was trying to be polite not to mention names but damn... Are you a YO???  What I was saying is, if you click on Zimbabwe party you on this website, you will see that they have Zims mix music.. why can't we do the same at our parties? No-one will promote Malawi products and its music if we don't.. About forcing people to like stuff.. get on everybody's level, you sound like you are still in the iron age. Are you still blind folded? Slavery was abolished long time ago, you are FREE, do whatever you want to do but if you get out of line we are will give you the blues!

Global village... please, think again..

Zuze Chilombo Chapamudzi

Kunjanji, nothing personal my man -- just that iyo sinkhani!!  What people choose to wear is their own business.  I am all for supporting MW products, but only if they are worth the quality.  Now, while MACOHA used to make very nice things, it's rare to come across material or outfits that are made in Malawi that are impressive.  Ndiponso ife kuvala "traditional" kuMalawi sitipanga.  So should people start wearing stuff like that just because they are here in the United States?  We have other things that make us unique, but just because Mashona are playing their own music doesn't mean that we should too.  In any case, I hear people play that stuff at parties anyways -- so what was the point really.

Koma nkhani ya ma "YO" I have to agree with you.  Sometimes my brothers tend to get a little overboard.  So do my sisters since we are talking about it.  It's time people learnt that what we see on BET is exactly that: entertainment and not for everyday use.  Though, I am all for freedom, let us still maintain a little decorum if you please.  So Kunjanji, it was nothing personal -- just that iyi sinkhani

As for the shop, hook me up my brother -- since you seem to be advertising.  How can I get a hold of your sister for those outfits?

What are you saying? You are contradicting yourself. You are either in or out. Lets do the test maybe you can redeem yourself;

You wrote, "What people chose to wear is their own business". And you also wrote, "Sometimes my brothers tend to get a little overboard.....Its time people learnt that what we see on BET is excactly that: entertainment and not for everyday use".

Have you ever heard that a mouse bites and fans the spot. Is that what you are doing?

I will agree to disagree kuti sinkhani coz to me ndinkhani basi, since we are still writing about it.

About my sisters shop, I can hook you up all day long.MACOHA had quality but hers is beyond and above..email me @ zuze_chilombo_chapamuzi@yahoo.com

make sure you put underscores between spaces. Give me a list of what you want, I will even give you a discount on the products like mmwenye.

Perhaps instead of drinking Mountain Dew, Coca Cola, Sprite or Fanta we should be drinking thobwa at Malawian parties. May be kachasu should replace Brandy or whisky, and mowa wamasese should be the only beer taken and not Budweiser or Corona. What about shoes? Should we go bare footed or wear "nkwaila"...?

Do we have a chance to see these Malawian traditional clothes or just give their description. I have a problem I would like to wear Malawian traditional clothes and I asked my friends which one is the Malawian traditional clothes they told me different answers.

1. We do not have.

2. A gourd handle on the waist

3. Animal skin

4. West african attire

School me on this one, I need the malawian traditional clothes.

Makolo athu kale the, true Malawians, ankavala nyanda for Azimayi and ntibo for azibambo.

Nyanda was for covering the waist only thats from belly button to mmaondo.

The men had chikho(the ntibo) which had two holes that had a string to hold it round the waist.

The top was bare for both men and women. This is the Malawian attire. Do you want to go to a party dressed like that? No!

With the coming of azungu and aluya during the slave trade they introduced nsalu. This is when the few missionaries who could not handle stuff they forced the women to cover up. Izi ndiye kuyambika kwa dzilundu.

The original chilundu was the women covering up the front ndi nsalu with the a knot tied at the back of their neck.

Bare back yamma 80 ija inali itayamba kale mmene Livingstone ankadzasokoneza kwathukuja under the guise of Christianity.

Anyway to cut a very long story short, the world has moved on. No need to go retro in the name of nationalism otherwise titsalira.Bola tisayiwale uko tachokera.

Kunjanji,

I meant exactly what I said.   While I do agree that sometimes my brothers and sisters go overboard in their dressing, what they choose to wear IS their business.  After all, it is a free country and cheap entertainment for us

So, have I redeemed myself?
