I am totally offended by your post and I suggest you delete it. Unless you were trying to be ironic, I don't see why you put this rubbish here.

these jokes are offensive. and Im confused about the title, white peoples jokes for african Americans, it could be African jokes for African Aemricans b/c racism and prejudice exists between these groups as well. Case scenario. If it was white-jokes or african - american jokes for africans it wouldnt make a difference to us who it from all we would knoe is that the person that posted the joke was racist..Prejuice jokes hsoul not be tolerate in the forum. Especailly when they are based on sterotypes...wrong ones at that... Observer, pls stop surfing the KK website, or tell whoever email the joke to you that its not funny...

It took Katrina to show the plight of many black people in America. A lot of people were shocked at the images they saw on TV, but if you look really carefully, those images are in each and every black neighborhood in America. By refusing to acknowledge the stereotypes that are potrayed in the media, Sports...etc, a lot of people are unintentionally fueling the deepening problem. Why did I post this on the forum? Because only by addressing such steriotypes can there be substantial equality between blacks and whites in America. True, a lot of African americans are doing fine but there is also a disproportionate number who are living like they are in a third world country. America knows that it has this problem within its borders, but it hides it from everyone else outside America. I am sure everybody had a much different perspective of the US before you came to this country than you do now.

Should you take offense to my posting? You have the right to.....but only when people RISE to change such steriotypes will there be real equality in the USA.

I don't think people were that surprised about the poverty in America. What really shocked people was both the incompetence and the total disregard for its own citizens. The people crying for help and bodies floating for days in polluted waters with no help in sight.

But on the other hand, anybody with the most basic knowledge of America (a country that actually justified slavery for centuries) should be aware of the black issue in America. I mean segregation is a few generations away. My parents saw it. So to have that illusion that America is anything like it claims it is would be ignorant of how the system works.

And Observer, you have been in America I take it for at least a decade, right? Now black folk have been living with that stereotype for centuries and where has it gotten them? 50cent and 2pac! Intelligent, black men with education anyone? You probably cannot name me 5 in the media. Either they're sportsmen or musicians. Out there just to entertain and not to delegate. Doing jobs (yes they are highly paid)that require hard physical labour (now ain't that slavery) to entertain the masses.

So you were not addressing a stereotype, you were pandering to it. The intent was hardly satirical (or at least we didn't see it).

You really seem to be echoing the same tired soundbites that come out of the news everyday since Katrina, about it exposing the poverty in America.

Truth is it didn't. Well, not to black people who it is a reality. Not even to whites who chose to look the other way. Not to the governtment that deliberately cuts public spending and taxes to the rich. Not to us here in Europe who know that the "American Dream" is just public relations.

The American media however has pretended to be shocked by it all. Probably as a way of gaining its balls back post 9/11 and Iraq. At least we saw criticism in the mainstream media (for the first time since 9/11) It felt refreshing for once, but it would hardly last. It would be back to business as usual soon and the black folk would still be like those awfull steroetypes that you posted...
