One intelligent author defined politics as "Who gets what, when, how, and why". The author also went on further to rightly state that this definition mostly fits the African scenario. I cannot agree less with what the author wrote. Lets face it anthuni, African politicians do not give a **** about the average Jim and Jack on the street unless that Jim or Jack has got something to offer politically or in percuniary terms. Who ever came up with the public choice theory was not really far from the mind of the African politician either (ofcourse this theory applies to all politicians in general). People are really after maximizing their own interests and do whatever they do in order to make sure that their interests are realized. In a nutshell the African poltician is only there to make sure that his brothers, his amalume, his mother, his village headman (including his whole village), his anansi onse, and all the people he feels sympathize with him, benefit from his tenure in office. This is food for thought for everybody who feels he or she is really into politics and wants to change society through their politicking.

Well it's exactly the same everywhere in Africa. In fact, everywhere in the world. One major difference with Africa is the way our societies are structured.

Since we were divided into national states with no respect of sub-ethnicities or tribes/languages our only allegiances are our own tribes not imaginary national states. The reason why Africa is still a tribal continet than a national one is because of that.

In MW for instance if a northerner became president, the north gets more progress of investment. Simple as that. This problem hardly exists in other parts of the world. The few places that it did or does have or have frequently had violent struggles - Yugoslavia, India/Pakistan - the middle east (arguable).
