....well US troops have occupied Iraq for some time now. Having not provided any specific objectives, the Bush Administration have managed to convince the Americans to support all military operations taking place over there. Some people argue that troops are in Iraq for their rich supply of oil . However, oil prices have risen. Americans are hardly enjoying.Others argue that Bush has sincere intentions of fighting terrorism and believe it’s best fought in Iraq. But as most may know, the 9/11 commission report seem to contradict the whole idea of the threat of Iraq and WMD .....well what do we know? people are living in fear, dying, anti-American sentiments in turn are being fueled, whole nations brain washed into the ideology of “freedom”.
isn’t mainstream media an amazing thing? I mean Osama Bin Laden= terrorist. Saddam= terrorist. Nelson Mandela= terrorist, prior to the rise of the ANC. I mean, what is the difference between a terrorist and a freedom fighter?
An even more interesting question is what do we not know?
Thinking about this makes me reflect on what former president Dwight Eisenhower referred to as the “Military industrial complex”.In most democracies, the rich always have a huge influence in politics .Considering the number of “rich” (and when I mean rich, we’re talking Billions) people in the US, you sort of wonder, what part do they play in all this “war on terror” non sense.
“Politics is war without blood shed, War is politics with blood shed”
WAR IS THE GREATEST RACKET. AMERICA, MORE THAN ANY COUNTRY ON EARTH AND IN HISTORY, HAS PROFITTED THE MOST FROM WAR. WWII PRACTICALLY MADE AMERICA THE RICHEST COUNTRY IN THE WORLD. SO EVEN 'THOUGH A FEW THOUSAND SOLDIERS DIE IN IRAQ, THE BILLION DOLLAR HALIBURTON PROJECT IS WHERE THE GOAL LIES.
I ALWAYS SAY THAT THE US IS THE MOST IGNORANT SOCIETY IN THE WORLD AND IT OFTEN RINGS TRUE SEEING FROM THE EUROPEAN PERSPECTIVE.
I DON'T BELIEVE THAT BIN-LADEN IS MORE OF A TERRORIST THAT ARIEL SHARON OR EVEN GEORGE BUSH IS. IN FACT THERE IS NO CONCLUSIVE EVIDENCE THAT HE IS THE SOLE PERPETUATOR OF 9/11. IF HE WENT TO COURT TODAY, THEY WON'T BE SUFFIECIENT EVIDENCE TO EVEN GIVE HIM COMMUNITY SERVICE! BUT THE POWER OF THE WESTERN HEGEMONY HAS FOUND A NEW EVIL-DOER TO PIN EVERY BAD THING ON. EVERY MISGUIDED AND ILLEGAL POLICY ON. BE IT GUANTANOMO BAY, IRAQ, AFGHANISTAN, HOMELAND SECURITY, FOX "NEWS" ETC. IGNORING THE CORRUPTION AND ILLEGAL ACTIVITY THAT THE ADMINISTRATION IS GETTING AWAY WITH...
USSR COLLAPSED AS A RESULT OF SOME DRASTIC CORRUPT INTERNAL POLICIES AND I'M AFRAID THAT THE US IS GOING THAT ROUTE. AS AN EMPIRE AMERICA REALLY DOESN'T HAVE A LONG SHELF LIFE. WE REALLY DON'T NEED A BIN-LADEN TO PROPHESY THAT... HE IS EXTREMELY POPULAR IN THE MUSLIM WORLD AND IN AFRICA AND SOUTH-EAST ASIA. ARE THE PEOPLE STUPID AND IGNORANT? FAR FROM IT. DESTROYING THE ROMANTICISM OF THE BIN-LADEN MYTH IS THE REAL "WAR ON TERROR". THE US REALISES THAT IT CAN SPUR FURIOUS NATIONALISM AROUND THE MUSLIM WORLD AND BEYOND...
inayi misala ndithu. kodi bambo nkhani zili kumudzi kuno sumuluziona? why is it that today yuo wantee to tok about bush amd wif amaerica when problems and hungry is is malawi yuor country and nation? inu why not ask questions that are good . this one i give it stupid. whta is a problem wif malawians now? useless topic. zikomo
Possibly. This new age version of imperialism does have the the potential to backfire.
Could you please re-type your posting with care, and take the time to re-read it next time? If there was any point you were trying to get across, it did not register. However, your question was interesting. As far as asking what it has to do with Malawi.
Take our President for example. How many off-the wall stories have we heard about him? and how many times do we sit and honestly ask ourselves whether they're true or not? I don't know about the local news, but judging from articles and headlines reported about Bingu, Malawi is being led by a naive corruption fighting, ghost fearing president who has spent 1/5th his term fighting the same people that put him in power. At least according to BBC and other African sites. Anyways, no matter how inacurate these stories are the impact that this tool, called the media, has is very powerful. therefore it is only healthy to examine how it is used in societies where it has had the most influence over ie the US. I'm not saying that these stories are true or false. But the point is, no one can really say what his agenda is or what the short term goals are. I think if Bingu wants to best represent himself, he must recognise the power of media. But more so, public speaking. He needs to start setting clear plans, publicly addressing issues, reporting set backs as well as progress, and giving more of a public image.
