Apart from living in obscene opulance at the State house in Lilongwe Bingu is at it again. In the midst of all the famine and shortage of medicines in our hospitals, Bingu has decided to purchase a $545,00 (US) Maybach 62.
Ayatollah would like to personally condemn this kind of selfish behavior by our so called leaders. It's great for these guys to enjoy a good life but yet it is another thing for them to be leading a rappers kind of life style on the peoples tax money when millions are suffering. I stand to be corrected but I think this is not only immoral but also shows a lack of respect for the voters and the donor community at large. For how long are these crooks going to take the masses for granted? I wonder.
Ayatollah, its good to hear from you. I agree with you, but rather its high time we need people to step up and walk the talk. We have heard all kinds of critics about our leaders. Somebody needs to step up and put these words into action.
Running for 09 presidential election could be a good step.
Izi nde za m'mbuyo mwa alendotu!Kodi nkhaniyi si wina wayiyambitsa kale kodi? Why do you always try to hijack somebody's ideas instead of just posting your contribution under the already started topic concerning this issue at hand?
WE START OUT YOUNG, ANGRY, IDEALISTIC, READY TO CHANGE THE WORLD THEN QUICKLY AS WE GROW OLDER REALISE THAT THE WORLD PRETTY MUCH STAYS THE SAME, IT'S US THAT CHANGE. WHEN WE HAVE KIDS TO RAISE, MORTGAGES TO PAY, DEADLINES TO MEET AT WORK. LOANS, CAR PAYMENTS KIDS FEES, COLLEGE, THE LIST IS ENDLESS. WE START TO REALISE THAT "WAIT A MINUITE, WHAT HAPPENED TO ALL MY IDEAS". THAT'S REALITY!
CHANGE IS GOOD, BUT THE COMMITMENT IT REQUIRES IS FOR LIFE. I'M SURE KAMUZU WAS REALLY IDEALISTIC WHEN HE STARTED OUT. TIME AND THE WORLD REDUCES ONE TO WHAT THEY FEARED OF THE MOST. KAMUZU BECAME AS BAD AS THE WHITE MAN THAT HE TOOK OVER FROM. KILLED HIS OWN PEOPLE IN THE NAME OF STABILITY AND "GREED" AND DIED WITH A LEGACY CLOUDED IN SECRECY TILL TODAY.
ARE YOU 1000% COMMITED TO CHANGE MALAWI? IF NOT, THEN IT'S HOT AIR. ARE YOU REALLY SICK AND TIRED OF THE CORRUPTION THERE? WHAT DO YOU PLAN TO DO ABOUT IT? HOW? WHEN? AND MOST IMPORTANTLY...WHY?
what you are witnessing is the rebirth of positive patriotism amonst the angry generation of malawi youth.lets join hands and drill holes in the ceiling of disunity, malawians can no longer stand a government that never implements the wishes of the masses.lets not let our egos overshadow our objective as the alert public of malawians.let us try to concetrate on what we really want for the future of malawi as these old corrupt minds will not be there to pick the fragments of a broken economy which they abuse.
we are the generation that will be affected if we let them carry on abusing the system.we will be there to clear the rubble of the brought down economy because we could not do anything.the mayback bingu wants to buy cannot go to mlowe as the road is full of drum holes, why cant he just put the money to good use.if we let them manipulate us next time he will be on the waiting list of rich people to buy tickets to visit mars while poor people starve.so please lets do something before it is too late.
JRC for now can you please put our slogan using the black panther symbol on the web page front as we are still deliberating, tell them about the newly formed ORDINARY PEOPLES PARTY.you are a painter so you know how you will spice it up we will be gratefull.for now we have to think of a constructive slogan and colour.thats just my opinions those who feel have a better idea you are welcome.
Gwan can you come forward please.

Nanunso inu abiti Nyino stop acting like wadya bibbi and trying to pick fights for the sake of it. Why are you so intimidated by Ayatollah? Ayatollah has the right to post whatever he wants on this joint. Ayatollah understands that your tired little asss is trying to make a name for yourself. Believe me there are better ways to do it.
So that your weak mind understand, I did not try to hijack anyones idea. My posting included a link of the source of information. Ayatollah has written a petition to the Bingu government vehemently criticizing the purchase and asking them to cancel the transaction. So far five thousand fifty nine people have signed and this document will be hand delivered to Bingu. All the people who love Malawi and are willing to add their signature to this document for the sake of our brothers and sisters back home should contact me in private. Ayatollah does not only speak, he put his words into action. I am not asking people like Abiti Nyino to bother contacting me. No! I am only asking those rational minds who also understands what's at stake. Game, Njiba, JRC, hit me up.
i do have a plan in motion but i cant bring it out on the forum for fear of being ripped off by the Bingu fanatics so hit me.if we manage to progress and convince our targets on the ground as Abre puts it we will be able to function without opposition.then our message and objectives will be received by the local man.or if we do encounter opposition we will succeed as they will be like snakes in the desert.
please lets bring these people down.and build a fortless that will protect vurnerable malawians from corrupt villains like Bingu, chihana, gwanda, and Bakili.let us cut their air pipe that supply them with oxgen so they dont live at all.
one aim

If this is 5000 biritsh signatures it doesnt matter- we want to see Malawians sign that thing from the cities to the villages and from Karonga to Monkey bay. thank you.
ayatollah - buy an ad in a Malawian newspaper - have them print your petition in the nation- that is the way to reach people and to have people talkinga about it - it only cost $50 to make an impact in Malawi.
Link my ass, didn’t you see that somebody else had already supplied us with the link to the same story in the original thread below? Kupupuluma kuseta usananyele bwanji, ntchentche yopupuluma inaphinzidwa ndi gushto nde you better watch out.
In reference to the supplied links to the story, nowhere has it been mentioned that ‘Bingu is to purchase a Maybach 62’, instead it is the Malawi government as a collective unit that is being cited in the story. So stop crucifying his name as this might not be his own brainchild but rather that of the people who handle the government’s logistics. And at this stage, the idea is just a grass root proposal, so do not blow it way out of proportion, if only you understood how the government mechanism works, you would most definitely appreciate the fact that the high office of the president does not sit down day in day out making such grass root proposals. I remain very impressed by the scope and magnitude of the work our government is doing in the fight against corruption in our country and the work being done cannot be obscured by this issue. Overall, donors and Economic experts were also impressed with the presented 2005/06 budget which only goes far to show that this issue is but a minor dark additive to an otherwise crystal clear solution. Do not be easily swayed by the media, be smart. Ever heard of the line; ‘Shoot for an A, settle for a B and take C as the last resort? This is what the government is doing, they know the proposal would definitely be crushed in parliament and by the donors so they will settle for the next best alternative, and they do not necessarily need some cyberpunk’s petition to stop them, it’ll be a little dip in the ocean. Instead of wasting your time working on that so-called petition, you better be working on your manifesto coz we are still tuned in and eagerly waiting for that to see if you are worth the salt.
Bottom line, the guy needs a new official vehicle after the previous one was involved in a car accident, do you expect him to ride on a bicycle with the statue of his office?
lend me your ears please, try to heal your rifts and bridge the gap we do have issues to discuss here unless if you want to kill what other people are sowing.Abiti nyono and Ayats you are all intelligent members of this forum dont you think you can put your intelligence to good use instead of taking shots at each other.
we need you to orchestrate the revolution we are about to embark on try to put down your arms and aim for one goal i know you can get on well if you get to know each other.
i like you both.

I agree with you game, good men, spare us your rifts in this hour for your motherlands sake.I know some of you might be saying'haven't this lot got better things to do'?We surely have good people. What hurts me most is when i look at an ordinary malawian(a villager) , because thats our source, how glamorous we might present ourselves.A revolution comes up when the people have lost trust and confidence,of which i believe we all have run out of.
Remember your grandparents, how hard they laboured for your parents!Do they still have to live in the same environment they were fifty years ago?I say NO!!Gentlemen, WE have a job to do.
I beg to disagree with many people on this issue. I think the government can go ahead and purchase the Maybach. I am not shooting darts at the president for a few reasons; The car will not be Bingu's personal car the way people are looking at it, it is a government car. One can have alot of work done in a Maybach and it is a classy car. We do not know the terms of payments on this car...ie for how many years, how and when will the final payment be, what discounts etc. Lets not jump out of the ship before the dock.
I have to say I like the energy and anger in most of you but I think it is being directed towards the wrong target. Well, let us use the same anger and energy towards real issues that will benefit to alot of people...ie there is shortage ARV in some parts of the country, reason being...the issue is a little bit complicated. How complicated can it be when life is at stake? Abiti, you have a point and I must admit!
I did not vote for Bingu and I would not have voted for him if I was in the country, but I do appreciate what he is doing for the country. Why should you overlook all the good things he has done thus far for the country. Let us encourage him not discourage the guy. Muluzi did a lot of good things and bad things but we never dwelled on his bad dealings, why??? Should I say, we were callous then? You be the judge! You know and I know what went down, why don't we cry over it then!
Mbili, I have a lot of respect for you. However I think that your comments and that of Abiti are somewhat misguided on this issue.
1. If you read Ayatollahs initial posting, just like anyone, Ayatollah would like the leaders to be comfortable. They deserve good things because of all the work they are doing and the office they hold. I hope you clearly understand and are able to distinguish between living well and living a lavish lifestyle. It is insane for us to expect a leader of a poor country like Malawi to be living a life style like a succesful rapper in the USA. Yes, people like Puff Daddy (My home boy from NY) do lead a lavish life style because in their business, image is number one. It's even impossible for the US President to emulate and maintain this kind of life style. I stand corrected but I don't even think the US Presidential Limos (Lincoln) cost as much as this Maybach 62. Bingu is entitled to a nice car but the spending an obscene amount of taxpayers money when we have pressing issues at hand does not make sense. It is selfish.
2. Others are claiming that it is the Govt that is buying the vehicle for Bingu. They are right on this one but as far as I know Bingu is the head of the Govt. If someone is making this kind of mistake, it would not be too much for Bingu to tell them to get something more reasonable.
3. Of all the people, Goodall Gondwe is now acting dumb by saying that payments are going to be spread over sometime. At what interest rate? With Interest, this car would end up costing the tax payer twice as much as the original cost. When you see most rich people driving in expensive vehicles, most of them do pay cash. Interest rates are a very evil thing if you understand what I mean.
4. You claim that this is a Government vehicle and not Bingus vehicle. You are right about this fact as well. But do you expect the next Malawian president (Ayatollah) to be riding in this vehicle? What is going to happen to this vehicle after Bingu?
5. Much as I agree with you that Bingu has done a good job fighting against graft and gaining donor confidence, I am beginning to wonder some of his motivating factors around the issues. Could the UDF be right that he is persecuting them as a pay back for what Muluzi did to him when he was at Comesa (Personal hatred). I certainly do not think he is doing this for the love of country. Other than fighting graft, I do not see anything else that he has done. But hey, who am I to critique? I live in NY and I probably haven't kept abreast of the happenings in Malawi.
My observation however remains, All this is pure selfish nonsense regardless of how you try to spin it. We have people dying of hunger and shortage of medicine in hospitals. What is wrong with the Government buying a $100,000 automobile. This is utter nonsense and it needs to stop forth with regardless of whether Bingu has done a good job in the past or is about to do great things for Malawi in the future. Malawi is the poorest country in the World

Ayatollah,
How are you big man?I agree with everything you have put down here, entirely with every single word, this is/was well thought and it will be hard for anyone to find any faults with such a fine masterpiece of an answer, congratulations man!
Just to add a bit(I hope I wont spoil your well thought response),people should remember that the buck stops with Bingu. There is simply no way the government would be thinking of such grandiose without Bingus input,he and his finance minister are both guilty of this stupid idea. The cost of a maybach according to MEJN(follow the link)is equivalent to 45000-50kg bags, what an opportunity cost and yet the president and his minister of finance are well trained economists, indeed power corrupts and absolute power corrupts absolutely.
Keep them coming big man,we are not going to sit back and watch these old men plunder our economy and ruin the country just because they want to be like P DIDDY,its not a matter of saying the next president will use it,no, but the question should be, can we afford it,is it necessary with our state of economy?its irrelevant to the needs of the people,it is wrong and it is not a moral thing,Iam with you Ayatollah on this issue, phewww!what can I say!!
By the way have you heard of OPP?

for politictians to set out a positive agenda they listen to the concerns their citizens are expressing and implement them thats when they gain faith in the public and appeal to the wide audience if this is not done the public lose faith in them thats exactly what malawi people have done, and that is why we need a change in the system.
Bingu and his people think that malawians are blind and can be manipulated anyhow,he is forgeting that when one is being lied to many times he develops a technic that focuses on awareness and at the same time broadening his perception to critically disallow a full spectrum of events that disregard his being.
alot of villagers in malawi are not naturally more accomplished thats why they need guidance and little instruction from an intelligent and imaginative person so if instead of guiding the intelligent person starts manipulating the weak minded person he become awakened and seek truth and strength within himself thats why we see wars in other parts of the world.
am saying this as a concerned malawian who has witnessed these things first hand and now feel the need to help because am capable to.Mbili ku njanje said Bingu deserves the mayback but didnt shed more light on how the poor and hungry man in the village will react to such action.lets not encourage ignorance amongst ourselves to those who are willing to do the work lets try to divide the responsibility and make a chain of command so that decisions are respected, thats the only way we can achieve our goal.

This is a real nice car but for that price that a little bit too high. Do these people really shop around when buying cars? I mean Chakuamba and Bingu's assistants.
