I am a young woman born in London to Malawian parents. My father was a Lomwe and my mother is a Chewa. I have stayed in Malawi though with my mother but just never got a chance to explore the Lomwe culture. I am really confused coz I don't know who am I at the end of the day and this is really worrying me. I need to reclaim my culture. Could you please help me to understand the Lomwe culture - their traditions, beliefs and values. I wish I could speak alittle bit of it coz I believe that will lead me to find my ground. It seems a lot of people don't speak the language. Pliz pipo help me.

This is very interesting especially if pple want to get connected and find out about their roots.I am a Tumbuka pure both parents from the North. I was born and have grown up in the Southern Region(Blantyre, Thyolo, Nsanje, Lilongwe, Machinga) so I have an understanding of some the cultures found in the Districts I have just mentioned. I will just tell you on the marriage part. You are a Lomwe because of the chikamwini that is to say the home of your mother is your home not where your father comes from. You dont pay anylobola to get married but you leave your home and join your wife just like what your father did. I cant go anyfurhter than this.
