New Strain Of AIDS - Full Blown AIDS In 2 Months - Can you believe it....and to think some idiots will still be running around having unprotected sex..!!
New York City doctors have discovered a man with a previously unseen strain of HIV that is resistant to three of the four types of anti-viral drugs that combat the disease, and progresses from infection to full-blown AIDS in two or three months, the health department said.
"We've identified this strain of HIV that is difficult or impossible to treat and which appears to progress rapidly to AIDS,'' said New York City Health Commissioner Thomas Frieden. "We have not seen a case like this before. It holds the potential for a very serious public health problem"
It is likely there are others infected with this strain and this individual has infected others,'' The case is "extremely concerning and a wake-up call,'' In this patient's case, onset of AIDS appears to have occurred within two or three months and at most 20 months after HIV infection,'' The patient, whose name was withheld, has symptoms usually associated ``with someone who has very advanced disease,''
The normal time of progression from infection to full-blown AIDS in an untreated patient is about nine years, with death following within 18 months, said Karlie Stanton, a spokeswoman for the CDC in Atlanta. For someone treated with anti-viral drugs, the average progression to disease from infection is 11 years, with death occurring within an average six years.

ITS GLOBALISATION AND GLOBAL WARMING ....NOT MORAL ATTITUDES ANYMORE
What has global warming got to do with this? Is this a sign of desperation or what? May be this is a sign of resignation to the fact that, as one Malawian musician, (God have mercy since he is no more) Saleta said "ili mu ufa." On a serious note, maybe this is not as bad as it appears. If HIV/AIDS had a short time frame to develop as suggested here, it would be easy to get rid of. Its the problem of staying 9 years in your body without making you ill that makes it very menacing. History has it that syphillis used to be a mass killer (plague kind of) in its time but then this ended when all who had it died. The same would happen with this new strain. Of course, I am not ready to die yet and I believe the same is true with you eetchef/bigfut. So lets refrain from behaviours that are likely to kill.

Abale,I believe this new strain of HIV/AIDS(God forbid!)is a blessing.I agree with Straightfire that the problem with our current strain of HIV/AIDS is the period it stays in your body,it might be there for up to 20 years and during that time lots more people might have contracted it from you and when you put"ma chain"then you can see how bad it is.Now with this new strain it will be in you for three months and assuming the time it takes for one , particularly a man ,to win over the heart of a girl or woman is longer and again add the time it takes for you to have sex with that woman, you are probably looking at nearly four months and this new strain kills in three(remember this is an assumption and in the real world things happen and move far much quicker),dont you think a lot of people have a chance not to get infected.at least now we have a litmus test to pass when you fall in love, wait for just four months before you can have sex with your partner, ngati adutse those four months then probably the partner is alright but if in the second month the partner starts wasting then you know what you do(but sindikuonapo munthu pano amene angadikile four months akungoweta, monga inuyo mungathe?remember that poster campaign in malawi-KUMANGOTI TOTO) ITS THREE MONTHS AND OUT!

Yo, this is some scary ish but I agree with the hardliners. Had this argument about ARV's the other day see; ARV's are only available to a select few at the moment de facto not de jure. Now instead of the rape victims and the born positive getting the ARV's, it's the fat cats around town who have access to these life extending cocktails. These same fat cats came by the virus through the more conventional way, unprotected sex. Now they're being kept alive yet their habits haven't changed so they're spreading the virus. You've heard about the three C's right? In Malawi right now if you're a man with CASH a CELLPHONE and a CAR, you've got it made. Young girls falling all over you. And these fellas just suck it up! Then the nasty bit is, these same chics feel neglected so they have same-age boyfriends pa-side who worship them. Extrapolate that equation pang'ono and you see a pretty nasty scenario. Catch 22 this, the proverbial hard place and a rock that we're caught between. But this drug-resistant, direct-injection full-blown AIDS HIV strain will (hopefully) wipe out the philanderers!
