Well, you really have started a topic that has received such a huge response.I would say judging from the response,so many people are offended. However most of them know you have hit the nail on the head.

A few concerned Malawians who are not doing the kind of jobs you are talking about and whose faces you will never see on the malawiana website have tried to write on this same forum to suggest several things to be put on the site to represent all groups but it hasnt helped. What you see does not represent everybody.

It is sad that people out there think the website represents everyone.Well it does not.

The bottom line is we are all Malawians,it does not matter where we are, what we do or what we own.

I am very proud to say that i am a Malawian that is very rich.It didnt come easy,i drove taxis in England, drove Taxis in U.S.A,PAID MY TUITION and worked my way up.I am now in Japan and doing so fine.

Once again,it does not matter where you are what you do,just make it a point whatever you do,you are progressing your life, and hence more MALAWIANS are getting education, development e.t.c.While we are doing this, lets make sure we protray a good picture to the world of who we are and what culture we are made of.

GOD BLESS YOU.LOVE EACH OTHER,AND REMEMBER TO THINK POSITIVE......AND NOT JUST ARGUE FOR THE SAKE OF ARGUING

Chilungamobasi I really like your comment because when I was putting that SUGGESTION it was not my intention to offend nobody BUT the fact is the first response is what made things to go a different route I stand to be corrected. People like you are the real people because you are saying the truth. I didnot want to agrue for the sake of arguing but somehow people have reacted without controlling their emotions very unfortunate! But I like the forum so much that I am addicted to it such that I make it a point to visit it everyday. GOOD BLESS MALAWIANS WHEREVER WE ARE.

Bro I agree that the guys in the usa over reacted to a very simple observation. The thing is that they don't want to accept the other side of their life. As much as some are really doing fine some are also doing very bad. So bad that they are just drinking and lingering around the streets. For a fact lets see some pictures which potray the other side not always at the paties and weddings. GO ON WITH SUCH TOPICS they make us think twice

I don't understand why our South Bend brothas and sisters are getting so defensive about all this. I don't think it would be fair to judge people lives based on the few images that we see. And it would also be just plain ignorant to assume that all Malawians look and act in a way that has been dipicted here. But as Abromovich suggested, we shouldn't have to be subjected to these images everytime damn time we log on. Its getting tired. We need variation people. Just like cockroaches, Malawians are everywhere on this planet. So if this hot topic has accomplished anything, let it encourage other Malawians from Australia, South Africa and even back home, to post some pictures on here and share their story with us.

Chilu man, I appreciate your efforts and I respect you for trying to help us to be more productive not only here (in the US) but also to contribute at home. Let's be real guys, if you notice most of the photos here you can see that the age group of these people is in the range of 18 - 30yrs. Now take the same scenario to be back at home, these could've been them kids still in college (whether ku Trade Fair or UNIMA). C'mon guys (Chilu and Ambro), let's go down the memory lane (I assume you are products of UNIMA)say back in them days when we used to have Social Weekends or even Chancellor's trophy, didn't we all act like some or most of these young bucks. If we dig in our archives most of us will come out with them pics holding a bottle of green or ngati unali Trad you posed with Chibaki mmanja.  But that didn't mean that was your daily life. You guys are talking about putting pictures of one working in a nursing home in order to show kids back home aspiring to come over here that this is how we do.  Oh yeah, who doesnt know that for one to survive in this world you need to work hard. Unless one is so dumb that if he/she thinks that living in states uncle sam drops money at your door step. On this site there are other links to different website where you can find some interesting topics according to your liking. Please dont make our exciting malawiana to be another nyasanet.  There are a lot of links here, say if you are interested in cement business go to malavi.com.

You guys are talking about putting other pics apart from weddings and the likes i thought pamwanbo wathu wa chimalawi munthu akakwatitsa amapatsidwa ulemu than those unmarried couples living together. Zaipinso chani izi? A plato mukudzaoneka ngati mukunyoza Bend, people there are so thight and the way they help each other is more than wakwithu (no offense Brandy). Do you know that it's the same Bend which have produced some marines in the military (of course tikukamba za amalawi). Do you know that the same bend has both grads & Students at notre dame who got scholarships not cos they are athletes but cos of their G.P.A. How about those in music industry who some even own recording studios where people (not only malawians) go to record their music. Am not trying kukumba munthu but do you know that it's the same young bucks holding heineken bottles who stepped up and helped the pentecostal pastor who was detained cos of his status here. they collected money enough to have a lawyer who got our dear pastor out of jail and remember his thank you note on his forum which unfortunately was viewed by not more than 50 viewers.

On the recent pics (by the way it was birthday party not thanksgiving) the host is one of them under 30 guys who owns a house (hey, nice crib man, I see you, holla!) unless you tell me kuti zinthu zasintha but I remember back home those under 30 who had nice cars & cribs zinali either za company or they were ziomba. Pliz remember that achievements are in diffrent catagories - According to upbringing and ambitions, say like our sista in chicago who had a swing with R. Kelly (no, she's not under age) to some that was a big achievement.

All the same much luv to y'all, ka heineken katentha ndikulongolola.

PEACE OUT!!!!!

My fear is that all this talk about pictures whether good or bad will drive off all the would be contributors of their picture collections. This could as well mean the demise of photos on Malawiana which really saddens me a great deal because over the past year the photos on Malawiana have been an inspiration, library of information, family album and a lot more. To me they mean a lot. Arguably, it is through Malawiana.net and its photos that Malawians in the USA have for the first time been united as evidenced by the independence celebrations that have taken place the past two years with the main source of meeting point for discussions being Malawiana.net. It is also through the photos on Malawiana.net that we saw Jacob and Izeki performing live in the USA, the soccer game between DC and Indiana, graduations, Various birthday parties, baby and bridal showers, engangement parties and what have you. Whatever your opinion is about the pictures, I hope it is in good faith. Otherwise you are killing a great source of information. For instance some families back home were able to see the whole wedding album of their loved ones through this site.

Peace
