Malawi has gold deposits
by Maxwell Ngambi , 15 May 2007 - 02:39:34
Government early this year sent seven rocks to an international gold laboratory in South Africa to verify the existence of the mineral in Malawi and the results show that the country is also endowed with the mineral. Government is now hunting for an investor.

"The Nation Newspaper."

What do do you think?
Do we need a foreign invester to do the job for us?

Well, the money has to come from somewhere...

PS: I hope we don't look back to this day and regret it ever happened. The existence of gold, diamonds, etc has rarely ever been good news in Africa.

The problem is, the mere presence of valuable minerals in poor countries makes the instigation and sponsorship of political instability logical, at least in the minds of certain crooked individuals. Look at Malawian politics today; fist fights at party meetings, total anarchy in parliament, deployment of the armed forces at political rallies, etc. Can you imagine what might happen should there be multi billion dollar gold fields at stake? I don't think Malawi is ready for it. It is neither politically nor economically mature enough. And then there is the unwanted attention MW would get from other countries. It would be sad for Malawi to become another DRC; the poorest rich country on earth.

let us not get ahead of ourselves here. these things take time. the result will depend on quality, quantity and accessibility among other factors which have to be considered when doing the feasibility assessment.

What is need is a an invester with enough resources to secure and mine with an intent to do bussiness with the Malawi Government not to exploit that little hope of survival for our little country Malawi.
The first phase of feasibility studies has been carried out already and "The real Malawi Gold" not Chamba, has been found to be in abundance. The will use Over Cast Mining as the ore it just near the earts cast.
The only thing that i dont know is the quality but you have to be careful with these foriegn company's that come to help in feasibility studies of any mineral we happen to find in Malawi they always come up and say its not weathy it let the villagers grow maize on the rich land.
