Malawi would have gained, if we had Agidze (Agilibati) as Boxing Coach (not as a soccer coach) or himself taking boxing as a career. Typical Malawian style, we are good at choosing wrong profession. I dont know, may be because we dont have wide selection of choices or just poor choices/judgement. Like our own villainous veteran member, I Ching Benson, I think he would make a good career in kunenelela ma mini buses. But right now, he is just wasting time in UK. Here is the rest
Gilbert Chirwa wanted by copsBY JOY NDOVI09:26:50 - 24 April 2007Balaka Police are investigating Big Bullets coach Gilbert Chirwa in connection with a fracas in which a photojournalist for The Lamp magazine William Kolla was beaten up during Big Bullets friendly match against Red Lions at Balaka Community Stadium last Saturday.Balaka Police public relations officer Chilungamo Ligomeka said they received a complaint on Saturday in which Kolla claimed to have been assaulted by Gilbert for blocking his view during the match. We have indeed opened a case of assault and we want Gilbert Chirwa for questioning to find out what happened, he said. After the journalists complaint Constable Chisale and Constable Mchenga were deployed to arrest the suspect but unfortunately the match had ended and Big Bullets had already left for Blantyre.According to Kolla, Chirwa allegedly pounced on him for blocking his view while the journalist was taking pictures. He told me that he was not interested in having journalists covering their matches and that I should go away, Kolla said. Before I even moved he pounced on me and gave me a couple of punches.Kolla was referred to the hospital for a medical report where Dr. Madzi of Comfort Private Clinic treated him as an outpatient as he was bleeding from the nose and ear.I am having chest pains and I am also having difficulties to swallow because by bronchi was affected by the beating. The doctor gave me 48 hours bed rest and I have not been able to go to work, Kolla said in an interview Monday. However, Chirwa, whose side won match 1-0 through a Rahim Ishmael goal, denied beating up the journalist. He is exaggerating things because I only pushed him out of my view after he refused to shift from where he was standing, Chirwa said Monday.Copyright @ 2005 BNL Limited, Malawi document.write(doClock("D1","%20","M0","%20","Y0"));Website Redesigned and Hosted by
Is it that journalists are a menace in our country? This scenario makes me recall what happened in Mchinji when journalist were pelted stones at when covering Madona's arrival at the centre. Now its Gilbert Chirwa a former international player who travelled with the Malawi national team far and wide and been covered by the same journalists everywhere they went. What happened this time, mwina kukalamba, nobody knows!
