hi all just wanted to find out how many of you support our fellow malawians going to war.. whether its afghn or iraq... some important people in my life have left.. but i just dont see the necessity and it wasnt for the visa either...would it be for the fact that we havent experienced it in mawi... am so confsed
There was talk of the Malawi Army going to Somalia for Peace Keeping but with what is happening there I don't think it is worth it. There is total war in Somalia right now.
Dee is it Malawians in Malawi or Malawians serving for the US and UK armies bcoz as at now noone has left yet for Somalia. When you talk of the visa issue what is the connection. Elaborate pliz.

if it wasnt for the visa, why would any sane person(an african for that matter) go and risk there live fighting a war that has nothing to do with them? a malawi lets get real, lets not risk our lives for **** that has nothing to do with us.

Some Malawians have already been in action in DRC, Mozambique, Afghanistan and Iraq but on different purposes eg in DRC under UN, in Darfur under AU in Iraq and Afghanistan under British Army. Atlhough some of the operations are said to be peace keeping but at time they are involved in combat. But on our own as country I dont think it is necessary for us to go to war

True! They have to go to war, in so doing, they learn alot new tactics from their allies. Ma allowance ndiye osanena ndi lololo!Osangokhala phwi pa Barracks, akasowa chochita amapezeka mu ma taraveni!!

Makes me sad to tell POPE that this "WIVES" issue has killed a lot of our friends who were in the army and served in DRC,Mozambique even Kosovo. Am not comfortable with that one very close friends have passed on i cant mention names for obvious reasons.

The positive thing about going to war is that our officers ALEMERA. These days it is not strange to see our officers and their wives driving nice cars. Its all becaue of allowances they got while peace keeping somewhere. Otherwise the salaries in the army are very low.
Let these soldiers know what war is all about. Msilikali wanji oti akaona helcopter kumathamangira amvekere "ndege! ndege!" pamene anzawo akangomva ikulira amathawa kukabisala ali tcheru. These Soldiers need to go even to the war torn zone, adzichenjera. Munthu chilowereni u silikali mpaka kufa nkhondo osayiona?

Tango, I agree with you, the truth lies in your point.

Getting back to what I think was the question. I dont think it is up to any of us to support or not support Malawians in Iraq or in Taliban areas because in doing so we judge against or for people who are just trying to improve their personal situations. And only the individual knows their personal situation best.
I have a friend in Taliban territory right now, I wish hime the best and hope he gets back to his family in good time and health. I am not in his shoes to say whether I support his decision or not - my opinion is irrelevant to him if not maybe even offensive.
Now if you ask me what I think about the policies that have led to some people being in those areas then I can put in my two Tambala, cents or pence in a heart beat.
