How much specialised, effective and efficient is our police’s investigative department on such brutal crimes as this one ? Do we boast a well equiped police service to deal with such crimes too abtract coupled with traditional scientific theories? How much closer are we to defeating this evil act within our beautiful societies? How much do we have to  learn from our friends in other countries who have positively wiped out such beliefs of get-rich quick?

I reckon some time last year watching some sort of upsetting and gruesome documentary on the National Geographic Channel about witchcraft and murder in England.

In September 2001 a shocking discovery was made in London's River Thames. The hideously mutilated torso of a small black boy was found floating through the city with the boy's arms, legs, and head had all been hacked off.

Murder squad detectives had nothing to go on: There were no reports of a missing child and no witnesses or crime scene. No face, fingerprints, or dental records remained that could help identify the boy. The police simply called him Adam. He was believed to have been between four and seven years old.
The investigation to discover Adam's true identity and bring his killers to justice was thus the subject of this National Geographic Explorer documentary, and unbelievably it tells how the latest advances in forensic science led detectives across two continents in their dogged quest to solve Adam's murder. And mind you , I am not trying to bring unnecessary conflict of opinions here as I am just sharing something relative to what’s happening in our country today.
I mean this is one of the most astonishing, horrible stories to happen in years and years in England as the autopsy report concluded that Adam's throat had been slit. His body was then deliberately drained of blood.

With no clear leads, murder squad detectives at Scotland Yard in London called in forensic experts who used the latest scientific methods to examine Adam's bones, stomach, and intestines for clues. What they discovered became central to the investigation. Some forensic geologist analyzed Adam's bones for trace minerals that are absorbed from food and water and they said the levels of trace minerals vary depending on which part of the world a person comes from.

So the tests revealed levels of certain minerals such as copper or lead quite much higher than would be normally expected in a child living in England. And using these trace minerals as a simple guide, they were able to gradually narrow down Adam's likely geographic origin to West Africa. Quite impressive , honestly. But though I cant recall every other detail but there was something like when they extensively analysed the contents of Adam's stomach and intestines it pointed detectives in a similar direction. So the forensic team found a strange, unidentifiable plant material and again there was also a sand like mineral and a substance that resembled small clay pellets. Whatever that means but added to this bizarre mixture were tiny particles of our own gold. And in the end they had to bring in plant anatomists to help identify the plant. The closest match, it turned out, was a type of a bean which they allege is an obscure but highly toxic type of climbing vine from West Africa.

Adam's death to witchcraft in a region that's regarded as the birthplace of voodoo and all of us watching their videos everyday in our homes are our own witnesses to that. And it seems M Malawians are simply going through the same gullies and we know that to be true, that its all about witchcraft and get-rich quick theory.
