I am an oldie of Chichiri Form Four 1989 indeed those were the days basketball courts, tennis courts with all the equipement labs with all the tools, apparatus, test tubes, chemicals, home economics with working cookers, and now Chichiri i is indeed the sorry site any suggestions from my fellow oldies
wore out a lot os sneakers on that court .....those were some memories hey ...what do you suggest the old students must do ?
How about bringing it back to its former glory? Oldies get together, Raise funds and take it from there. It was one of the greatest establishments and its a pity its now a ruin.
Its not only Chichiri Secondary School, Dedza Secondary School which os populary known as Box 48 is in very bad state too. Have you ever visited Mzuzu Government Secondary School? I tell you, tou will sob

I wonder what happened to the volleyball court. I remember they did some work in 1997. This place brings memories. Count me in brothers & sisters. Together we can move mountains. Class of 98. Form 4 west boys only!! aka 4 wailers Pa Foya brings memories of Kapindu if you know what am talking about.
I am the oldest oldie if I may say so Class 88 4S and at Chichiri was really the best we had good volleyball courts, basketball courts, tennis courts and all the necessary equipment and I remember loads of test tubes, appartus, chemicals in the lab, home economics had working cookers the flower beds were well attended to, so lets start rebuilding Chichiri anyone interested seriouly we can think of something.

....also the great Dedza Secondary School, Box 48. Those who has been there recently can agree with me that it is in a poor state. Bingu promised to do something bcoz he is also a former student koma mmhhh...... Lets help Chichiri Secondary School (pix of roca) and other schools as well
I do not intend to bash anyone but lets not get ahead of ourselves. The subject is Chichiri Secondary, lets focus on chichiri and then move on from there.
maybe the students must do something for themselves ,that school has a lot of potential ...and they can have a fundraiser ....sports day ....and pull it off.
remember them days when we ran up and down the stairs running from kapindu and chipanga .....
In case you didn't know almost every govt school in town hires out its hall for weddings, zinkhoswe etc at weekends. They charge about K10,000.00 for this. The chairs are also hired out. In a month the schools make about K60,000 to K100,000 just from these kind of activities.
Now, if this money was used to rehabilitate the schools then the govt would only come in to do the major works. But as you know, we just sit down and wait for the govt to do everything.
Where is the money going? your guess is as good as mine.

There is a grain of truth in what you are saying mulomwe. Government has just added color with this uncompleted fly over at the highway near the said Chichiri Secondary School

Probably another thread highlighting the condition of our former secondary schools should be started so that we can all join in and talk about them otherwise its of no use for some of us like me to talk about Chichiri when my former school needs attention as well.
